Hello everyone. I'm hoping I picked the right forum for this, as it wasn't directly a grammar related question more of a project I'm working on.
I'm trying to create 5 tiles with one kanji each representing an the basic (and correct) meaning that I am aiming for behind them. It is for a friends garden.
This of course is a bit hard in Japanese (especially for someone inexperienced to an extreme like myself) when many words themselves are compounds. Only with adjectives is where it gets easy. I want it to be as accurate as possible, so I'm thought I would check here for any advice, or comments. They need to be single kanji, which I almost wonder if it would be easier in Chinese... but that is a guess.
The first kanji meaning is peace or tranquility. So far the kanji that best seems to fit is the 平 in 平和
The second kanji is joy or happiness. At first I thought 楽 but that wasn't quite right, so I'm thinking that 幸 is more accurate.
Those were the easy ones. The next three seems to be extremely difficult due to many resulting in multiple compounds of words I am unfamiliar with.
The third is Discipline or Perseverance. So far my best guess is 耐
The fourth I thought would be simple, but that proved entirely wrong. Truth or honesty. My best guess is 実
The fifth and last is compassion. Closest I can find is 情 but it doesn't seem right at all.
Any help or verification would be appreciated.
