Dear native English speakers,
Which one would be appropriate for the blank?

Jasmine in Paris for five years when she was a child, but she can't speak French at all.

a) has been
b) has once stayed
c) lived
d) had lived

Would both (c) and (d) be possible?
Thanks in advance.
Hirashin

c) lived

I like to think of (d) as "double past" (technically: past perfect), i.e. the second clause must be in the past too. In your example, the second clause is in the present.
E.g. "Jasmine had lived in Paris for five years when her parents decided to leave".
