I have three memorable Asian horrors that I love:

Ringu (Japan)
Ju-On: The Grudge (Japan)
The Eye (Hong Kong)

Which one do you guys think it's the most effective horror/suspense movie?

I voted for The Eye. Maybe I am biased, being grown up in HK, but then I find the muscial accomapaniment for the movie EXCELLENT....kind of like an "out of breath" sort of ambiance....especially in the elevator scene.....the drumming beats simply pound into your heart!!!

In addition, in The Eye's "Subway Scene," there is a scary-looking face on the reflection of the subway glass, and the face was not at all mentioned and brought up......was that something created by the movie....

^_^

ooo, well, if you're going for horror, riungu... but if you whant something more junmpy... then grudge.
the eye... i like sure enough... but.... it didn;t scare me (well... except the bit in the lift >.< )... i thought it had some really good ideas... adn it was well filmed... but... i just thought there was a lot more they could have done with it.
the grudge is my favorit, because i just love creepy lile kids... they scare the pants outta me.
however, i still voted ringu... you can't beat it when it comes to clasic japanese horror (but the remake was appauling!)

I really like all three of them, and I think they are all scary. However, if I really had to choose, I'd pick Ringu.

I voted for the Eye, simply because i enjoyed more than the others (not a popular choice amongst classics like ringu and ju-on) but i felt it was a better film all round.

Now wanting to argue something i'm not 100% sure about, but i'm pretty sure The Eye was a Thai movie.

My vote's for Ringu. It left the most lasting impression on me in terms of what Japanese horror movies as it chilled even a jaded horror movie fan like me, especially at the end when Sadako crawled out of the TV! BBRRRRRR!!!
😲

Is 'The eye' the movie with the freaky baby in the jar? Well if it is that one, then I liked all three... can I have three votes???? Just pretend Im someone else each time. Ooh yeah Sadako climbing out of the tv was the worst bit for me... ever since Poltergeist (I was 7 when watching it), I have been freaked out by things coming out of tv's. Never go to sleep with the TV on!!!
In Juon, its the staircase part which really turns out to be insignificant, but it gives me the chills!

your evil, i love sadoko and kayoko so i voted for the eye....though i think it was the japanese one i saw.....

there's a japanese version of the eye?
I didn't think so, but then again i didn't know there was a korean version of ringu!
I have just ordered The Eye:10.
It's not a tenth sequel, apparently it's about 10 individual accounts of...well, something. Don't know much more about it.
The Eye 2 was pretty good. now where near as class as the first one.

I'm still sure it's a thai movie, because the Pang Brothers also did Bangkok Dangerous (also cool!) and I believe Bangkok Haunted. Maybe it was just me putting two and two together and getting five!

meh...it might not be japanese but it was late at night and i did buy it from the tartan asia extreme stand at my dvd store.....:: shrugs :: it freaks me out when all the things are blurred slightly....

I would vote for The Eye...because I think I am one of the few that doesn't have a problem admitting that neither Ju-On or Ringu was scary.

:-)

i have a hard time choosing which horror movie is scarier for me, in a way i find horror movies humorous, unless it's a true horror story then i get scared.....but is that weird, to find horror movies funni, i remember watching freedy vs jason and i couldn't stop laughing......as for ringu and grudge they were alright, made me jump at times but i just found parts that made me laugh...am i weird?

I'd go for Ringu. :-) It made me into an instant fan. Not only that, It revived the horror movies craze in the Philippines!! If it weren't for Ringu, I wouldn't even give a damn for Ju-on, The Eye, or any other horror film!!

which version of the grudge is scarier?
japanese version or american version?
coz i saw american version but not jap version
american grudge is funni ^^

You are not weird. I find most western horror films funny - especially the Nightmare on Elm Street series and The Exorcist. They make me wet myself laughing! :D But I do find Asian horror films scary, especially Ring. The bit where the mother is combing her hair scares me the most.

lol....so true. at least im not weird ^^
thanks

The grudge was the first japanese horror movie i had ever watched, and the second horror movie i watched since i was 8 and had watched the conjuring. Young me didn't do well with horror movies. I remember my brother used to scare me with the noises the Grudge makes while i would try to sleep. I promised i would never watch a horror movie with him again😂😂😂

I didn't watch those movies but am interested to watch some types of horror movies. I actually can write horror stories or scenarios but there is not any motivation for me to do that. One of the reasons is that I'm not a known writer in this background and don't access to the posed publishers or cinema providers.

In my real life, I have been engaged with some demons. They are real beings that truly exist but are not seen in the usual condition (unless some of them decide to show themselves to some humans). They are folk like humans but their creation has been thousands of years before the creation of humans. They are unknown and secret beings but I have some information about them. Although they have figures similar to humans approximately but are not cute anymore! (can be horrible and awful). They can change their shapes and their presence in a place can create fear in humans (without being seen). They have a cold and creepy effect on the environment and this is what humans can feel. They are more powerful than humans and can travel on the earth very fast by themselves. Their characters, beliefs, powers, moralities, and moods are different just like humans. Some of them believe in God and some disbelieve. Dependent on their characters and beliefs they can be peaceful or hazardous against some persons. They can possess a human and control his behaviors and in some situations make him insane ( usually they don't do this, except some of the criminal demons). As human has activity at day their activity is at night and they choose some lonely places for living. That is why it is told don't go to the lonely places solely at night! The ruined old buildings that are abandoned and also lonely deserts at night are the most common places for demons. Magicians and wizards demand the help of demons to do extraordinary works for them. The common Muslims have been warned to summon demons and become familiar with them and the Muslims have been warned to employ (possess) them to do something for them (except the peaceful demons to do some good and legal works). Of course, the one who wants to contact some demons should be experienced, knowledgeable, brave, and expert to do that correctly. The inexperienced persons who want to contact demons expose themselves to danger because if they go to the criminal demons and provoke them those demons will hurt them physically or mentally.

I have met some of them occasionally (Not very vivid as the experts) and this has induced a type of fear in me. I don't like to meet them clearer. But some of them have scared me in the sleep actually as my mouth was locked and couldn't shout or call anyone! Fortunately, I have some effective heavenly prayers. Those prayers repel the mischievous demons powerfully. Nothing can repel the demons except the prayers. On the nights that those demons feared and annoyed me I had not used the prayers. I even can possess some of the demons to obey me but I am not interested to do that. I wish to live like common people and don't like to contact that folk.

However, my knowledge and experience in this background and also my ability in writing allow me to write horror stories and scenarios.
