I'm looking for samurai quotes, sentences or a short text. I also want it to be written in old Japanese way, samurais writing. With old words and word order etc (e.g 和紙とこめと).
This is actually a well known haiku, but it maybe gives some ideas of what I'm looking for. But I'm looking for longer texts than haiku's though.
夏草や
強者でもが
夢のあと

hm, that's sounds interesting. I will check out that book. However the other link seems to not work. (?)
I also found a name: 平家物語, have you heard of it ?

Probably most of all Japanese know it.;-) The story of the end of aristocracy and the beginning of samurai's era.

祇園精舎の鐘の声、諸行無常の響きあり。
沙羅双樹の花の色、盛者必衰の理を顕す。
奢れる者も久しからず、唯春の夜の夢の如し。。。

I was forced to remember the opening sentences of the tale in a classic literature class in high school, and incredibly still remember it even now.😌

I am looking for an old samurai saying, that goes something like this: ,,If You start crying, look up at the sky, so that Your tears don't get dirty". Can somebody help me find it? :D Thanks a lot ;)

I found it, written in Japanese, but I don't know if I'm going to write it the right way, and it would be nice if someone would help me with the phrase, so that I can help someone else... Thanks for Your help ;)
Okura ya yo ino ekonija daka yayo (or jajo) nino

I'm afraid that that doesn't make sense at all.

O.K. Sorry for bothering You, and thanks for Your help, I was also worried that it might be wrong, but still... The friend I was searching the translation for is so persistent, I couldn't refuse to help her, and so I entered a lot of forums like this in order to help her. But, I got similar answers elsewhere, so, I'll have to disappoint her, and tell her that this is a wrong sentence... Thanks again, see Ya next time ;)
