Rifle sling writing

This was posted to another forum, it's not mine but for my own curiosity, I was wondering if someone can figure out what it says. I suspect it's probably a unit code, as that seems to a majority of writing on slings, but never really seen a unit code that has 吉 in it, although I only have really basic knowledge about Imperial Japanese military codes.

Looks like a male name (probably the owner's name) 荒井亀吉 Arai Kamekichi.
