Hello -- I follow Japanese politics somewhat, and I have a question about the Office of the Prime Minister. Does the office's structure mirror that of other parliamentary democracies? In other words, is the PM also a Member of the Diet, elected from a constituency and answerable to its voters? I have wondered about this for a while. Thank you.

Steven, did the Wikipedia article sufficiently answer the questions you have about the Prime Minister?

This is another thread where the mean and negative person on JREF seemingly just rudely brushed a poster off with a link, while the nice and positive people sat on their hands and totally ignored the questions as if the poster didn't even exist.

Personally, I'd rather have a useful link to helpful information from a mean person than have all the nice people totally ignore me, but that's just me. Apparently the nice positive people find it more friendly and welcoming to sit on their hands and totally SNUB new members asking questions, just so long as they can then feel and act superior to the one who actually put forth an effort.

You know, I bet I could go back and find a LOT of threads like this one, where the nice positive element did nothing whatsoever to help while the mean negative element was left to tote the water. It might be fun to look. Why, in merely the few threads where Steven sought information, I find not one attempt by our nicest and most positive and most welcoming poster to help at all. It would be nice if the nice and positive would pitch in and try to be useful and helpful instead of net copping and kvetching about the manner in which others DO try to be useful and helpful. There's little more useless than a Monday-morning quarterback.
