Does anyone know of a good Takoyaki recipe that I can make with ingrediants from the UK.... (no access to proper Japanese stuff)

No, but I just had them for the first time today..YUM!

I got some of the best takoyaki from a streetside booth that was setup, in Kawasaki, It really was good, anyways good luck on finding a recipe, I am sure with all the great cooks here on JREF you should get a reply.

Thanks.

I was about to ask my usual questions, but opening the links have answered them all.

Octopus is not eaten around these parts and so I will have them when I go to Malaysia this May. I hope they eat it there.

I went to a japanese Grocery store to day to look for ingredients to ATTEMPT to make takoyaki, and lo and behold, they had some frozen takoyaki in the "special stock" freezer. Pop 'em in the microwave for a minute and chow down! :gohan:

The lady running the store was surprised that I asked about making takoyaki, and was tickled at my reaction (I was truely surprised and voiced such), and she asked me if I had had them before. When I said yes, she asked if I had been to Japan. That started an interesting conversation to say the least. After explaining as best she could how to prepare them, and as she was ringing up my groceries, she tossed in a couple boxes of Strawberry Pocky and a Ghana Black Chocolate bar and said "You have." It'd be nice if she had a good-looking daughter!

I just bought that the other day! Only with mine there isn't anything on it, it's just plain takoyaki. I guess it's a setback if you decide to freeze them.
Fresh takoyaki is always the best!
