Granted, this thread's title may remind you of your Hotmail inbox, but in fact, this fine thread is about the new Cutie Honey OVA!
Having never seen the original series, I downloaded the first episode not really knowing what to expect, but I must say, I'm pretty darn impressed!
The characters design is very retro, but quite a bit flashier, the background art is purposefully simple,
but sometimes garish to the point that the show almost doesn't look anime-esque any more -- I love it!
"Flashy" is perhaps the best way to describe this anime -- this show, starring Cutey Honey, the "Warrior of Love", has it all:
explosions by the truckload, lots of action, lots of fighting, lots of androids with superpowers lots of cuteness, and -- lots of fanservice.
Some people may shun the show for its overabundance of fanservice, but quite frankly, I don't mind it at all because everything's so overdone and over-the-top you simply can't help laugh.
I thought the fanservice in Shinobuden was borderline "icky", so I stopped watching, but I guess Mrs. Honey sort of struck a chord somewhere in me.
Enough talk, see for yourselves. One episode has been subbed so far, and in my humble opinion, whoever did it did a damn fine job.
The subtitles aren't very literal in parts, but they're still a lot of fun to read.
