ご飯の量はお過ぎますから、半分にしてください。

Why there is a お in front of 過ぎます? Can I just say ご飯の量は過ぎます?

I knew お can be used to emphasize the politeness, but it usually used with noun, like お金、お酒. Can it be used in front of a verb?

Thank you

I have a feeling that's supposed to be おおすぎます (多すぎます).

I agree with JimmySeal, yes, that's "多すぎます", not "お過ぎる".
多すぎる = too much, more than necessary, more than enough.

I agree with Jimmy Seal and Cue and undrentide
it should be read "oo sugimasu"
(anyway else wanna agree??)
