Alright guys, I need some help. Basically, I need to know the cuisine, and why its a blue zone.

What is a blue zone?

I think you mean centenarians, not ancient Roman soldiers. It's an easy mistake to make.

They eat Spam in Okinawa. It's the only place I know where they do as part of the cuisine. Unless you count my house growing up.

That's about all I know about Okinawa cuisine, although I think they eat bitter gourd, too. I doubt that helps, but it's all I know,

There was a very recent news report suggesting that Okinawa seemed to have so many centenarians because they weren't reporting deaths accurately. So people who were actually dead stayed on the social security rosters, and were being counted as 100+.

An older one (behind paywall)

I think Okinawa has a lot going for it. Island culture can be much more relaxed, reducing stress that shortens life. Family, friends, and shared interests keep the elderly active and engaged in their local communities, and there are initiatives to promote socializing amongst the elderly. You'd think there'd be a lot of fish in their diet but I'm told that historically the diet was much more vegetarian with locally grown foods. Perhaps that is still true to some degree, but eating out you see a whole lot of meat (pork, especially). Martial arts training seems to go a long way towards building a strong body with better muscle tone and bone density. There was a documentary on Amazon Prime called "The Okinaway of Life" that delved into some of these possible explanations for Okinawa's designation as a "Blue Zone."

That said, none of these are unique to Okinawa, nor are these universally shared experiences of all Okinawans. The blue zone stuff is a great marketing tool for these places to promote themselves, appealing to the concept that longer life==better. The real important metrics for me are tied to the quality of life into old age. Maintaining a healthy body and mind, having meaningful work but not too much stress, fulfilling hobbies and good friendships. All these things may lengthen your life, but more importantly, make it more enjoyable.

The public welfare labor statistics association article
The average life expectancy of the purpose Okinawa man becomes best among the whole country from 1980 through 85, and the image of "healthy longevity prefecture" colonized, but I make a sudden drop afterwards and am the 36th place in the life table for latest 2,015 years. I determined Okinawa in the prewar days, and, not long Shou County, the longevity of the Okinawa man was the phenomenon that 35-40 years were temporary as for becoming it after the war. In other words, I hypothesized, "a postwar survival rate might be good as a big generation of the sacrifice by the war" and, as the cause, inspected a selective survival hypothesis by the Battle of Okinawa of 1945 using before the war postwar population statistics and life table.

I estimate a relative survival rate before and after the Battle of Okinawa according to birth coHort than a national census carried out in method prewar days and postwar period by the Ryukyu government and a life table and evaluate the correlation with the postwar standardized death rate (SMR) according to coHort.

After comparing the postwar standardized death rate with the relative survival rate before and after the Battle of Okinawa for each birth co-Hort about result Okinawa man, a positive correlation (R2 = 0.34) was seen. In other words, the tendency that a postwar standardized death rate was low (= death rate is low) was seen before and after the Battle of Okinawa as the generation that was low (sacrifice by = war is big) of the relative survival rate. Such positive correlation was not seen about the woman.

As a generation with much sacrifice by the conclusion war, a low tendency was seen in the postwar death rate of people who survived. It is thought that so-called "selective selection" that the Battle of Okinawa is a severe battle for more than three months, and only a person having strong vitality can live acted. It is not influence of the eating habits and the lifestyle that the average life expectancy of the Okinawa man became the whole country 1 temporarily after the war for 35-40 years, and it is thought that it was a temporary effect by the Battle of Okinawa.
