Preference for Japanese woman?

Something that's been swirling around on this forum and even outside the forums, I've noticed is that many men have seemed to have taken a preference towards dating Japanese/Asian women.

Now this isn't extremely widespread, though it getting more common where I live, but I have noticed the preference has been increasing over the years. Even to the point of some men deciding against dating any other race but Asian and, in some (rare) cases, openly hating on women of other races (mainly western/white women). I've heard some pretty hateful things said against western/white women and I've also heard many reasons why guys say they prefer Japanese or Asian women over their own women.

So, ladies and gents, what are you opinions on the matter. Why do more and more men appear to be looking to Asia for love and why do many guys appear to be gaining a negative opinion on western/white women while Japanese women are becoming the object of attraction for many western men?
 
i think that this is just a generalization that you may have overlooked. depending on where you are located and who you talk to, they will either side with you and totally disagree with you.

as for other ethnicities looking towards asian women, what else can i say?? but asian women are the prettiest...

No adequate explanation than...

times are changing, things are changing, the world is getting smaller and smaller. It is noticeable that you feel hurt, abused and violated by this very idea of Asian girls/women gaining priority on the male list. I'm as well very fond of Asian girls; 1-they are good listeners, 2-courtous, 3-try to be the best they can in all ways. I'm not judging but this is a fact since I have travelled to many of the Asian countries and have lots of friends both boys and girls. Besides I also have lots of friends from countries other than Asia. Its really hard to explain without being subjective.
The best is to have faith and never feel you are being rejected for someone because nothing can ever change who you are.

Not me, my friend. She was rejected by a guy who told her he only dated Asian women. She told me this and it kind of stuck in my head and I began wondering why someone would limit themselves like that and take preference over one race when there is so many different kinds of people in all different races.

It seemed a very strange reason to me to not date somebody because they weren't of a certain race. It struck me as a kind of backwards racism. ☝
 
I don't know. Personally, I only date women who are willing to date me, which currently is nobody, so race really isn't a factor.

I've known absolutely stunning asian women, indian women, black women, white women, and latino women in my years on Earth. I've also know absolutely repugnant asian women, black women, white women and latino women. (I've only know two indian women, and neither was repugnant.)

People are people, and I have no time for those who are so shallow as to only date a specific race for whatever reason.

What if he would have told her his real reason(s) why he rejected her? He is supposed to be an honest guy for some, but no chance for him to find a girlfriend in his community.

If the guy would reject your friend who is like an award winning Miss Canada type woman, it is just his preference. You should tell her to come to Japan.

If she is not, tell her to investigate who is his next girlfriend.
If his next girlfriend is Miss Somewhere (non-Asian), he acted as a Canadian diplomat to your friend then.
 
Yes I see the preferance thing for asian woman quite abit, but as for the "hating" of other woman? That sounds ridiculous to me. I'm guessing guys like asian women, because of some mysterious fantasy thing that was contrived up and began swirling in westerner's minds that probably pictures them (asian women) as timid, cute, submissive and wild in bed or something to that effect.

For me as long as the girl is willing to date me and I respect them then I don't care what race they are, I'd go out with them, nuff said haha.
 

My thoughts on the subject are very similar to what Jericho Desu san sais here. Thankfully, not -every- male in the world falls under that category... especially those who fell in love with a woman for who she is, not just because she was Asian.
 
I couldn't agree more with that.

Personally speaking, I think that everybody likes "new things".
Getting married with a person of the same race is common and usual.
But, a person of another race is original, new, cool, funnier, I don't know...
And having mixed kids is something special. Well, there must be a lot of people that like to share theirs life with others race, countries, cultures...
Specially nowadays with the revolution of the Internet and the globalization of the world. I don't know how much do Japanese men like wester women as well...
 
Stereotypes are a terrible thing.
Not all Asian women are docile, subservient, promiscuous, and eager to serve foreign men in bed. None have 7 tongues, either.

Why do these images get formed? Consider the source and the prevalence of porn on the Internet these days.
 
I do have preferences, some of which are flexible, on the personality, philosophy, and hobbies that the women I date share into. Physical attraction plays a role as well, but more as a bonus than a requirement. I'm not too shallow on the appearance department.

If the woman happens to be Asian, fine. If she is more specifically Japanese, okay. Yet this is hardly a requirement.

For personality. I'd like a woman who is an atheist (i.e., non-Christian, non-Catholic, non-Muslim, etc.,) isn't an avid western sports watcher (football, basketball, golf,) enjoys: karaoke, videogames, domestic and foreign movies, casual drinking, pub games, board games, has a preference for rock music of any style (I enjoy all varieties,) has a fancy for comedy, responds positively to: sensuality, intimacy and romance, and can engage intellectual conversations.

Physically. I'm most attracted to dark features. Skin tone (definitely not a Japanese trait,) hair (however, Japanese women do have black hair,) and eyes. I also like short height and petite builds. So for me, a good pick for a woman would be Halle Berry.

Though truth in advertising. I find beauty in women of any spectrum. Women are just amazing creatures in themselves. Quite gorgeous and a lot of allure.

If a woman falls into most of those categories I listed for personality, can be faithful, and emotionally loving on top of it. Then somebody please give me her number.

Sorry, I suppose my entry isn't helping to answer the question of why men prefer Asian females. I'd say a big winning point that I see Asian women have over most Western women, is that they're more settled for marriage. Most Asian societies don't help the women pursue long term careers nor make it feasible for them to do such. This forces a mental preparation for marriage. It can be difficult to find a woman in the west who isn't on a mission to reach the top. Good for her, but bad for making ends meet in a stable relationship.
 
Regardless of whether you're male or female, other peoples' **** is always more tempting. Most people are aware of all the possible negative traits of their culture, they're pretty often sick of it, but hey, they have... TELEVISION, yey. Now on their television (or equivalent: internet, games, pr0n) they see these Asian, Black, Western women/men, their way of life, and immediately decide to overlook and ignore everything that might soil this immaculate picture they have of their adored targets.
The other thing is that people don't want to watch and see things they are not interested in.
You will rarely see a horny office worker watch a show on grumpy, unemployed women or men right?
Escapism is behind it, its all escapism, and it makes sense. Especially when something is unattainable. People create this synthetic image, and since they know they can never really reach it, they choose to just dream instead.
I mean honestly, what is the likeliness of being forced to have sexual intercourse with a female ninja in revealing clothing? Not too high right? So these people just keep dreaming.
The other thing is, some of us find it hard to accept human imperfection. People don't want to believe that these ideals, these perfect human beings they have in mind can actually age, get pissed, fall ill or die even. And when people mature (in the mental sense) they gradually discard many of their ideals, they just get rid of them, and frankly, for some people its pretty hard to cope with the whole thing.
Nowadays most 1st World country people can afford to strive to be original, and sometimes, it is just painful to stand in line, to some of us, it seems futile, so I assume that is another factor.

Thats probably a pretty tough criterion. It may just be my luck, but most female persons around me seem to not enjoy anything past the "interactive, innovative and very fascinating (but otherwise completely shallow) Wii party games (not meant to insult, but if it does it does)."
Imo, they should come up with games focusing on the female audience. Similarly to I dunno, shoujo manga?
Games need more recognition on every front. (FPS and sports games are exceptions)

I find some Asian women with long black hair and slim bodies are super attractive to me. At my age it takes a lot to make the engine turn over and certain Asian ladies make it rev? Who cares why?

If people still actually think Asian women are docile, then they should probably come out of the cave get some sun and read a freaking newspaper or make a friend. I mean can't count how many times I have heard that used as an excuse as why people may date Asian women.

Just get over it. It's a preference and that's it. The ones who explicitly date Asian women are shallow and are not worth the emotion spent wondering why they would choose to do so. I myself don't understand the fascination with Asian women (I am married to a Japanese woman). I still find women of other ethnicity pretty.

Unfortunately there will never be a definite answer to this question. It's just the way the world is.
(I have on my MIXI account in Japanese "Don't invite me cause you want [black friends], invite me if you want a friend in general". Now i receive alot less request for friends since putting that up. Tells you that everyone is the same and has thier own preference or superficial needs. I say ****'em and move on.
 
Pretty much agree with Damicci-san. Loads of people around the world have those preferences to go for a specific type of people for whatever reason due to the stereotypes regarding their race or whatever that they have in their head. How they get them is anyone's guess, media, word of mouth, guesswork, I don't know nor do I care.
 
I suppose a big part that preference might be the exotic factor. If you live in the west you will see beautiful and not so beautiful western girls all the time. If you have an extremely good looking western girl right next to an equally good looking Asian girl the eye would probably turn to the Asian girl more simply because of the exotic factor.

I'm sure it's true of Japan to. Put and equally good looking western girl next to an equally good looking Asian girl and they eye would probably turn to the western girl because of the 'well you don't see that every day' factor.

But I think over the years western girls have gotten stereotyped by many people as being too mannish in their behavior (guilty), not wanting to settle down, not wanting to take care of their husband, or cook and clean. A lot of guys are looking for a woman they can have children with, who will keep their house and who will be their dependent, of sorts. Some men don't want a perfectly 50/50 relationship and I think some are attracted to the idea that Asian women still hold the old values of the men going out to work while to woman stays home and takes care of the children/household.

Of course this is generalizing but many Asian women do seem to have that 'co-dependent' air about them. Even with simple things like clinging to their partners arm when they walk down the street, something you don't see as much with western women.
 


I do agree with this wholeheartedly. It is funny how some people want a separate person appointed to look after them because they lack the capacity to perform menial tasks.
As for seeking security in marriage, its... SHALLOW. And I refuse to withdraw this statement, for it is.
Longing for the breadwinner/domestic slave setup is like yelling "People, I want a purposeless, boring and unhappy life!"
In my opinion, people who marry without any genuine affection towards their partner deserve a nice loud laugh. That desperate to sire a whelp?
 

you want to know the real reason of this guy?? it's simple. because he is shallow and dumb. he's not willing to explore the other ethnic backgrounds out there. he's got asian women on a freaking pedestal that your friend is better of getting rejected than dating a loser like him.

I would put my money on the exotic factor over the "Asian women are timid and obedient" factor. I will admit a woman who has a not so common look is more attractive to me, But I won't say that a typical look is not attractive either. I would date both but if I had a choice I would probably the choose the attractive woman with the distinct features over the attractive woman who looks like the another attractive woman I saw 5 minutes ago.

This has also become a sort-of "Catch 22" for us in America, 'cause there are guys here who in fact love to clean the house and/or cook (my Hunny's a Foodie - he *loves* to cook and learn new ways to do so).

After my siblings moved out (I'm the baby), I used to do almost all of the housework in every room from my pre-teen years till I moved out on my own, down to scrubbing the woodwork weekly, picking up the front/back yard, buying the family groceries from the store, even running errands to pay some of the general house bills (with my parent's money, of course). Though this is not the only one, it's definitely one of the reasons that I'm not a fervent house-cleaning type today (what with the "I now have the freedom to do it only when I feel like it!" frame of mind).

I believe that there are quite a few men out there who desire to marry a woman who is less dependant, but still tied to him soley because she loves him and him alone.

That's not necessarily true. If you like something and you don't like something else, and you know this to be true about yourself, then what's the big deal? I will agree that simply rejecting someone based on appearance is shallow, whether its people different than you or in this case, people who are the same as you. The 'I only date Asians' thing isn't the most tactful way to put it, but in general having a preference for one ethnic group over another isn't uncommon or shallow provided you can honestly say its for the right reasons (and there, it's kind of left to the honour system, but o well). After all there are many people out there who wouldn't normally date outside their own ethnic group, let alone exclusively within another, and they're rarely criticized because that's seen as natural.

I think the thing people are really criticizing is other people's lack of openness to other possibilities, more than anything. It's not that he dates Asians, it's that he's unwilling to date other races, that has people in a miff. But how many people in here would honestly do something they knew they didn't like or weren't interested in just to give off the appearance of being politically correct? Am I supposed to date people I'm not attracted to simply so I can avoid criticism from people? Then I'm not only lying to everyone else but to the person I'm dating and I've also succeeded in commoditizing them.

Even if he said 'I'm really sorry but lately I seem to only be interested in women from east-Asia, there's just something about them I find really attractive. You're very nice but I will have to, at this point, say no thanks, as I'm not attracted to you right now.' he would still get in trouble.

So I guess the moral of the story is, don't say a goddamn thing and lie to people when you reject them. But denying the underlying fact that it's possible to be attractive exclusively to one race or physical type is ridiculous, as people will have preferences in every area of life including partners.
 
^^^^ what you say is true, but a part of you also thinks that this guy is shallow. imagine this for example, he meets a hot white girl who is also hugely into the japanese culture, then what? he more than likely will say that he can't date her because she isn't asian. isn't that being shallow in a sense?

don't get me wrong, my first choice is asians, more so japanese women..however, i have dated some girls that weren't fully asian. i also will admit that i'm on the shallower side, and with my dating experiences, i probably would also tell this white girl who might be into the japanese culture to take a hike.

some might not agree with it, but i just feel that this guy is also shallow to a degree.
