Points in time; about に vs を

I'm confused about the use of に and を in sentences concerning points in time. I've read that starting points in time take を, passing points also take を, and terminating points take に.

Why then the expression 大学に入る'to enter university', and 大学を卒業する 'to graduate university'? Isn't entering university a starting point, and graduating a terminating point? There is probably something very obvious that I'm missing here but I'm confused.

Those particles express the point of "location" rather than "time" in your example sentences. に indicates the arrival point, whereas を is used for the departure point of the intransitive verb.
