Hi I work in a Japanese company and I would like to send this message to the director of my department on social media along with the invitation. Is this correct?

今晩は,xxxxさん. 私の名前はyyyyyyです. 今日会社にはじめて おめに かかりました.

Trying to say, "Good evening, xxxxx-san. My name is yyyyy. We met today at the office."

How far up the office food chain is he from you?

Basically I am a worker in one room on a floor with 5 rooms, each with a manager, and he runs all 5 rooms. I am a worker and he runs the department, but seems to operate very 'casually'.

I met him today for the first time and had a brief chat

It's the american branch of a japanese company

Japanese usage between coworkers is different than among non-coworkers. You being a foreigner and a beginner, errors will be overlooked and effort appreciated. Don't worry about it too much.

The こんにちは and こんばんは greetings are typically not used between coworkers.
