Please help me with 「よく　きてくれました

Hello,

Please kindly help me with proper translation for the following sentence:

「まあじいさま よくきてくれました。」

I tried to search on the net, and found, that maybe, it could be translated as:

"Oh, old man, thank you for coming."

But I wonder if this translation really correct.

Yeah, that's correct. Incidentally, ～てくれた means "someone did something for me".

「まあじいさま よくきてくれました。」

as

"It is kind you give us a visit"

I wonder, it is close to meaning of "thank you" but yet little bit different in nuances.

Just curious, the よく here is adding positivity to the action of the old man coming right? In a different context can in be used like "often" and be something to the effect that the old man used to come alot (for my sake or the sake of someone close to me group wise ) ?

Below is little bit more context. Among with mine, possibly wrong, translations.
I think man come the for the first time, so maybe よく could mean "kindness"

すずめはなきながらたけやぶにとんでいきました。
The sparrow flew to bamboo grove in tears.

「はさみでしたをきるなんてかわいそうに。」
"Cut tongue with scissors, how cruel it is."

おじいさんはすずめをさがしにいきました。
Old man went to find the sparrow.

「ちょんやちょんやどこへいった。」
Chon, Chon where are you?

「まあじいさま よくきてくれました。」
"Oh, old man, thank you for coming."

すずめはごちそうをだしておどりをおどりました。
Sparrows served him a feast and performed a dance.

Oh, I used plural form of sparrow, because the book I reading, has pictures.
So sometimes I could guess the translation.

But, still 「よくきてくれました」 little bit puzzles me.

Thank you very much!

Literally, it means "you give me the favour of visiting me", and this is often used in "thank you for~" context.

Exactly.
じいさまはよくきてくれました, for instance, means so.

The original sentense is for talking directly to the old man, whereas the addressee is not him in this one(except じいさまはよくきてくれましたよね or like that).

Wow, my first thought would have been:

"My grandfather often (did me a favor and) came to me"

but on review I think I can see why that would be an awkward translation.

(1) じいさま would be strange unless you're actually addressing your grandfather (or revered "old man"), or possibly your grandmother if both grandfather and grandmother are highly ranked.

(2) きてくれました would perhaps be stranger than たずねてきてくれました or something for that meaning?

1)That's じいさま, not おじいさま. It has almost the same nuance as おじいさん.

2)よく来てくれました is quite common for a welcome greeting. よく訪ねてきてくれました is rarely used, or at least far less common than よく来てくれました, when directly talking to the visitor.

I think I'm missing the difference. I would also expect おじいさま to have almost the same nuance おじいさん, apart from politeness.

Yeah. My intended point was that it would possibly be more common when not talking directly to the visitor; that is, if my initial impression ("My grandfather often visited me") were actually correct. Or at least, that きてくれました would not be common in that particular situation.

おじいさま is usually used to address to one's own grandfather. That's the difference. (Incidentally, the addressed form おじいさま doesn't mean the addressee is highly ranked but shows the speaker is well brought up.)

Hmm, both seem equally common to me. Anyway, は can't be omitted for the case, as I wrote above.
