Please forgive those ignorant Japan haters from China

One more thing, there are the 'spirits' of 2,466,532 soldiers at Yasukuni Shrine, and only 14 of them are Class-A war criminals.

So the hundreds of Class B and C war criminals suddenly don't count? Umm..no...I am afraid they do. When you mix war criminals with other soldiers its either a FAT denial of the crimes or an admission that all the soldiers are scum. Take your pick. Yasukuni chose to honor those men. Anyone who honors Yasukuni from that point on is scum. That is why THE EMPEROR HIMSELF stopped going.

China had recognized Japanese sovereignty on Senkaku until 1970

No. The islands were administered by the U.S. from 1945 to 1972, so no.

when gas reserves were found. Hmmm, I wonder why?

Because Red China had no diplomatic channels until then. The minute they got diplomatic channels, they claimed the Diaoyu islands.

In 1885 the Japanese government noted that the islands all had Chinese names and were CHINESE. Then they STOLE them in 1895 during the First Sino-Japanese war, just like they STOLE Okinawa previously (not from China but from the Okinawans).

Denial of Japan's thieving past really makes me ill.

Japan didn't take Senkaku right before World War II, they've had it ever since the late 1800's. World War II was not even in sight of then.

Yes, you were right with this, Senkaku was invaded in the year of 1895. So why donot your country just give this islands back?
You mentioned gas, that's some kind of Japanese style mind. We Chinese, at least most of us never think this way. And you should know Taiwan insist Senkaku islands belongs to Taiwan. CCP supported this. Why donot you give it back to Taiwan?

Why don't China pull out East Turkistan ? China equpied it in 1949 ...( Turk- Stan) The land of Turks.
just curious.

Instead of posting my own irrelevant incorrect thoughts I thought I'd share some relevant articles. And add some of my own commentary.
Japan's right-wing politicians: Making a hash of history | The Economist
"Since leading the conservative Liberal Democrats (LDP) back to power in December, Mr Abe has been advised to avoid the terrain that ensnared Mr Hashimoto, but it never seemed likely that he could keep himself entirely free of it. In April, he queried the definition of "aggression" in relation to Japan's colonial wars in Asia—in effect undermining the basis of Tokyo's relations with its former victims. His semantic quibble had the effect of corroding Japan's gold-standard apology for its imperial warmongering and atrocities, the 1995 Murayama statement. Indeed, Mr Abe has hinted that he may retract it. "
"On May 12th, the LDP's policy chief, Sanae Takaichi, revealed to millions of television viewers that Mr Abe rejects the verdict of the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal, which blamed Japan for the war and sentenced its leaders to hang. Then a record number of LDP lawmakers visited the Yasukuni shrine last month, where those hanged leaders were enshrined clandestinely. A pilgrimage to the shrine is taken to imply a tacit endorsement of the wartime leaders and their aims. To reject the verdict of the war trials themselves would mean setting back to zero Japan's modern relations with China, Korea and even America. The consequences would be profound. "

-like many mentioned b4 you can't blame a whole nation for the ignorance of the warhawk right wing government... Do you blame all of the American people for the ill fought wars in Vietnam and Iraq? We elected the presidents in both cases too.

Territorial Disputes Involving Japan.
Russia Taiwan Korea and china. Clearly the Japanese government is screwing up. I highly doubt the us is even on board with the current state of the Japanese government. I'm thinking their probably pretty dumbfounded by the way it's acting. Much like how many of US allies hated bush for his wars.
The government should be blamed not the people.

Your arguments have no effect on what the elitist of either countries do... They have little care for your welfare and are only looking to stay in power, you should not be so emotional about drama that does not effect you at all

Sorry if I fan any old flames, but just wanted to post this so people can start thinking rationally about how dumb it is to justify hate for an entire nation of people.

Oh, I agree but you're not taking that argument far enough.

People have been fighting for land and riches for aeons. We have killed for hunting grounds, lands, coal, lumber, iron... everything that is of any use to our species, we have killed each other for. We have eradicated tribes and ethnic groups for the same reason. We killed their men and assimilated the fertile women. We have been doing this for such a long time that to portray any ethnic group, state or any natural person or political body in any way associated with our species as inherently free of desires and the urge to act upon them is a bit silly.

And in any case, we're talking about states here. States are amoral.

"Japan's government is voted by normal people. Their minsiter said "Japan is back" in front of the whole world, immediately when he took the office."

He was speaking economically, not militarily. US politicians adopt similar slogans all the time.

Are most Chinese people really so hostile to Japanese people as some of the recent events (and posts here) lead me to believe? Is it safe for Japanese and American tourists to visit China?

My Japanese wife and I are thinking of taking an anniversary cruise on the Yangtze River and visiting some of the cities and famous sites in China. We wouldn't want hostility or harassment by the native people to ruin an expensive vacation.

It comes and goes. There were anti-Japanese protests that got out of hand months ago, but I don't think it's a daily problem. And lots of Chinese like Japanese. There are strong ties between the two countries.

Really, You never see news from Internet or TV? News is here. And Japanese government has clearly showed its meaning. They just want to revive all parts of Japan, especially japanese militarism. Abe said other coutries should respect to Japanese glorious time (WWII).

We wouldn't want hostility or harassment by the native people to ruin an expensive vacation. .
So you are really hostile to these native people?

Like it or not, it is none of your business. Anti nazy dosen't mean anty Germany. And Anti Japanese militarism also does not mean anti Japanese. You were confused about these.
