Place to stay

Ok, that last thread obviously didn't work out as well as I hoped. So I'm going to do it like this. Doing the research, I am just so overhwhelmed with information right now I can't read another page. So one thing at a time...

First off, we will need a place to stay. We don't mind "roughing it". We just need the bare essentials. Somewhere to sleep and groom. I've seen quite a few hostels at roughly 25 USD per night, places where it's a shared bathroom etc etc. We wan't to be as deep into the city as possible. We really don't know the districts or what to expect at each one. I guess lets start there.

-Can anyone give ma brief rundown of the districts we might be interested in?
-Some suggestive places to stay that are in teh city. We're talking cheeaappp.

EDIT as for bunking, there will be either 2 or 4 of us. Not 100% sure on that yet sorry. We won't mind all staying together though if there is 4.

To get a lot of information and help, you'd better mention where you are going to visit (only Tokyo, as far as reading the above thread?). I happen to remember your name but people who read your post for the first time will be clueless.

There are many different activities and places/things to see in Tokyo.
Can you write down what kind of things you and your friend(s) are interested, and want to see/experience? Then it will be easier for the rest of us to make suggestions.

I suppose, leaning more towards the "pop culture" of Tokyo? I mean, we don't plan on going to the countryside or anything like that. We want to hit the city! I know we are deffinately going to see Harujuku district. More of the "young adult" scene I suppose. We will save cherry blossom season and the countryside for when we are older .

You know, the city does get boring. It's good for a couple of days, but unless you start hitting the cultural sites around Japan or the museums in Tokyo, it gets old. Just like any other big city.

You really want to sleep cheap? Get a blue tarp and head to the park. Plenty of residents already there. Or get smashed and wind up on a bench somewhere or sprawled out in front of a Lawsons.

lol I really really appreciate the help. but we WOULD like a roof over our heads haha. I was thinking more along the lines of cheap hostels, like for backpackers and such. plus I can't read a single thing on that site hahahaa. -kris

For your ticket - hit up TicketToJapan or IACE-USA - they should be able to have 200-400 bucks off the airline quoted price.

As for where to stay - if you are INTENT on going on those dates - Id recommend Sakura House. New, clean and it looks like it fills up - so youll have folks to kick it with.

Sakura Hotel

I'd recommend the Sakura Hotel. Located in Jombocho and convenient for most places. I've stayed there 4 times now and never had any problems. Friendly English speaking staff and you can sort it all out on the web prior to leaving (sory I'm not allowed to post urls yet but if you search them on google it will come up). They do dormitory rooms at 3,780 Yen per person, which may suit 4 of you.

Try K's House which is chain of backpacker dormitories. Very inexpensive

Stay at a gaijin house "Guest House" at 2,500 a night with everything you need. I think its the best deal you can find plus yiou can save even more cooking a few of your own meals. Here is a list of geust houses I compiled all across japan
