Past tense

to make things past, change shimasu to shimashita.....

the word "play" is shimasu to make it past tence, does it before shimashita or shimasu shimashita?

for example: watashi wa asobiba ni shimashita.

I played in the playground.

??? answer when ever you can!

i think you are well off the mark there mate.

play is あそぶ。 so you would need to say わたしはあそびばであそんだ。 (I think its で）

To make the past you change the -masu ending into -mashita. Shimasu is the verb to do, so to say 'did' it becomes shimashita. asobimasu asobimashita hanashimasu hanashimashita tabemasu tabemashita

Everyone is willing to help but unfortunately we are not human text books or walking dictionaries. Try thanking more when someone does answer, studying yourself before posting or while waiting for an answer and combing threads to make your sentences easier to find and I'm sure you'll find a much bigger welcome here.

ok people, i try to say thank you...i do have patience, and i know i do make a lot of forums. but why do you care so much? how one of the wroker ppl delete all of them, i dont even look at the half people already answered. some of you inhave no idea what ur talkign about. and by the way, i just stared, and i cant read hiragana and katakana that well. i cant read kanji at all. please type in romanji! ty ppls

Hiragana and katakana should be learned right away. When doinkies began studying Japanese in a class, although the first few chapters were in romaji there was also the hiragana and/or katakana and/or kanji beside the words that were in romaji. And at the end of each chapter there was a section of the hiragana chart with the hiragana to learn for the day. This was the same for katakana when we learned that after hiragana. In order to improve your kana reading and writing skills you should try printing out the chart of the kana, make flashcards with the kana, write all Japanese sentences in kana, make some doinky little stories up with each kana so that you can remember which one is which, etc. That's what I did in class, and it will probably help you, too.

You may not think it, but if people type in Romaji it will actually be counter productive for you. The more you practice hiragana the easier it becomes. Thats a good thing. If someone uses complicated Kanji when talking to you however, that would be their mistake, just let them know and I'm sure they will gladly tell you the readings.

I think that what everyone is saying is that you just opened 3 threads with very short questions. If you had added each new question to the first thread, it would be easier for everyone to help you. They won't have to have lots of windows open or be confused by similar titles. Also after starting a thread, don't expect a reply straight away. Don't worry it will come.

Making a post that says "why nobody answering" fifteen minutes after you started a thread is not having patience. Posts like that and ones like the "lalalalala" one you made above will be deleted. The only reason the one above is still up is because if it were deleted it would make the rest of the thread make little sense.

Your questions are fine, but give people a chance to answer them, and don't make pointless posts that say nothing.
