Part-time Jobs

Hi everyone , hope you're doing well!

I would like to have your opinion around part-time jobs a foreigner could do in Japan.

My history with part-time jobs in Japan ,
I have been doing restuarant/ izagaya part-time jobs for about 1 year 6 months for now.
Up to last summer I have been working as a wairtess for more than 8 months in a pizza-ya . But then I quit .
I guess I was very attached to that job that made any other part-time job which came later on seem not very worth working. However ,
I think I am sick of restaurant jobs , the thing is , since I quit then , I have tried other part-times. I have quit more than 4 jobs after only ONE working day in less than 2 months.
I feel like I have gone crazy somewhere , I dont know whats wrong with me but the only thing I can explain myself with is perhaps I am fed up with doing the same thing over and over again..
What can a gaijin do other than restaurant ?? I would have gone for Conbini , but , Somehow they never seem to accept me. My friend told me if it comes to hiring a gaijin then they would probably like to have someone asian looking.

Im not sure if this belongs into the Practical , I think I could use some imotional advice.

With jobs I'd imagine the only thing would be to stick to it, afterall baito-type jobs, however bad are really for the money, and not for the long-term. While working you should look into what you would like to build a career in, or the education necessary to acheive this. Ofcourse this is if you have a general idea of which direction you want to go!

In Japan a half-japanese half-english friend of mine worked in a hotel, cloakroom I think it was. Physically she looked very.. "Half" lol, so not typical Japanese, or Gaijin looking, and still got the job.

Hi Suki!

I'm glad to hear from you again!

I've clicked Nagashima-san's link and certainly found most are restaurant jobs... ☝
But, you should keep looking diligently--you might find something interesting!
Other part-time jobs I can think of need skills like being able to read & write Japanese sufficiently or other office skills or some other special skills, so I don't know what you can do. :?

I must admit that a lot of entry-level jobs are routine work, doing things over and over again. It happens even for jobs at an office. Even teaching English can become drudgery, teaching the same thing over and over again...

How about looking for a job at a small place, where you have to handle a wider range of tasks? If the number of workers there are few and you are recognized as earnest and diligent, you will be asked to do things you weren't hired for. It can make work harder, and there are people who enjoy such challenges.

That's about the only thing I can think of... Sorry if it doesn't apply to you...

If I remember correctly, I think one of the JRef members has (or had) a part time job at convenience store. And I do have seen non-Japanese working at other convenience stores myself. But yeah... those I've seen did have asian looking all the same... (I wonder why they care about looks, though)

Oh but I've seen an Uriko (Sorry I don't know how you call it in English...it's a someone who sells beers and hotdogs at a baseball park strolling around the audience seats) in Yokohama Stadium who looks totally non-Japanese. He said he's half-Japanese and had beautiful blue eyes, he's so hot and he's popular there. *^_^*

Ahem, err, what I meant was there should be some places who don't care about how you look.
Oh and English News paper and free papers (the ones you can get for free) might have those wanted help ads, too.

Usually though , I tried finding jobs at the FromAnavi , but it seems Oppo pays more !
Epigene , I appreciate what you said. Its true acually , cause when I worked at the Pizza-ya They had a big shortage for staff and I was required to do everything including service/ go-annai/ bartender/ bus-boy/ okaikei . They made me feel really inportant for them and I was oftenly called the number one waitress.
But I had many trouble with the manager .

I have to start working again ! Im sick of sititng at home.
