I remember watching the loose sock thing come into being. I remember thinking it couldn't last long either.

How about the skirt-over-jeans fashion?

I wore a kilt over my baggy jeans for a while (at parties =P) O_O and here i was thinking I made my own fashion up...

if she keeps that up until she's 18 or something she'll be able to kick me in the back so hard my ribcage will explode

I have a different theory on it. And panchira has nothing to do with it. Wanna hear it?
Go on then. Although I estimate there's a 50 / 50 chance I'll regret asking.

Let's drag this out. Here's a hint: It has to do with the slow but steady increase in the average chunkiness quotient of the young ladies.

Bonus points if you can figure out what phenomenon led to breaking down resistance over wearing something which is, initially, incredibly stupid looking.

So I get to blame McDonalds? That's almost as good as being able to blame America itself.

Nope not the faintest. You should realise that my fashion sense is rather less than the typical victim of the "Fashion Doctor" TV series. (Doing its bit to make Japanese TV look good).

Hmmmm Coca Cola? It is also being blamed for the incredible rise in diabetes in Asian people (who once had such oh-so-healthy-but-sometimes-wierd diets)

P.S. It's apostrophe week! Hooray for the little blighters.

Oooo .. and hyphenation week too
Squint squint

And YES, just like your Mumma warned you ... 'too much hyphenation will make you go blind'

OOooooo seems we have strayed from the thread a tad .
Well, here is a pic I know Mac will like
It seems these innocent looking youngsters have mugged a Highlander and divided his uniform between them. The one on the left has his boots, and the one on the right has his kilt. But where is his sporran?

Note the cleverly fashioned garters (made from Rubix cubes). A nice touch.

Special thanks to サブドメインサーバー[SE10.CSIDE.JP]<株式会社シーサイドネット> for the pic.

Are you mocking me, I think you might be mocking me..

If i knew what garters were i would probably be admiring them..

'cept those two girls aren't very pretty.. nothing like my little lovergirl from earlier...

(note: i want to make everyone clear of the fact that i know everything is in good fun, and although it may look like i'm being offended, that's just me playing along.. it's always just me playing along as I have yet to be actually offended by what someone has said to me online.. thanks for your time)

Garters are those elastic thingies that hold socks up.
I think that according to Japanese law naked lower legs must be masked (censored) ... you know, with those blurry bits.

By the way Mac, that's an alluring looking pair of young buses you have there.

Re. the offended bit .... 'Must try harder .... Must try harder'

Well, hell! I'm 14! So I can say the girl is damn hot all I want. ^_^ Her fashion style is very.... Harajuku. ^_^ Although maybe she needs a little help. Anyhow, hot all the same.

UPDATE: Now here's a little piece of japan I wouldn't mind taking home with me. ^_^

I think I'm in love! So many cute Japanese girls. . . brain. . . about. . .to. . .overheat. . . *Falls over*

Those import models/car show girls are very pretty!!!

I'm sorry i have to say this...two of those girls need to go see an orthodontist...I have this thing about having jacked up teeth.

Uh...oh did i get some people mad.

I think 70% of girls in Japan need to go see an orthodontist, don't know why having good teeth is viewed as "not very important" in Japan. I asked my friends why alot of Japanese people don't just go and see orthodontist, "is it the expense?" I ask, because they spend much more on fashion and bags, but they mostly reply that having straight teeth just ain't that important and some say that they don't want to wear braces for 2 years. I'm kinda getting use to the teeth now, if it ain't too bad I sometimes don't even notice anymore.

I agree with you. I have a thing about crooked teeth too.

And the one with the pink and white striped bikini top and yellow bottoms looks a tad bit anorexic.

i've got one tooth that's a bit off...

but i've sorta started liking it.. it's sorta cute.. and it hardly shows even when i open my mouth.. i didnt want a big set of braces back when i was 14 to fix it and now i wouldnt wanna fix it anyway..

a "tad bit" ??
she IS !!!!
shame, lovely smile.
yep, and crooked teeth are not too attractiveツィ
and Tateishi is right, lots of asian girls (not only jp) have teeth problems.
I think I start studying orthodontistery (???)

Come on, now, tell me the tooth... is it really that bad to have crooked teeth?

Na, not so bad.

Sometimes making them straight makes worse problems.

I have a slightly crooked fron tooth. When I was young an orthodontist put some bands around my back teeth, and then a wire from those bands to my crooked front tooth (to straighten it). Well, the front tooth never straightened, and decay set in under the bands around the back teeth.

The back teeth are fixed now and I clean my teeth around four times a day now to prevent any further decay anywhere else.

I think clean teeth are far more important (especially for kissing!!!!!)

oh ! a funny one !
really that bad ? usually it leads to severe pains, later in age, disfunctions and... large bills when you go to the dentist.
that's all.
not really that bad at all.

Maybe, not in Japan, but in North America it is important. Do you not notice the growing number of people with braces now a day?

I really do not think that the specialized retainer that your orthodontist used to straighten your tooth caused the decay on your back teeth. Tooth decay is caused by bacterial infection, so in other words you probably didn窶冲 take care of your teeth properly.

It is better to have braces, then to have jacked up teeth. I窶冦 not saying that a person窶冱 teeth have to be perfect, I窶冦 just saying they shouldn窶冲 be all over the place. With the proper orthodontist getting your teeth straighten shouldn窶冲 make you worse off, then you were before. People, who often have crowded teeth, have bite problems as well. Teeth that are crowded are more difficult to clean and floss. Not only, do straight teeth add to a person窶冱 beauty. It also, can determine the appearance and structure of your face. When your teeth are perfectly aligned it gives you a proper jaw structure and a proper jaw structure can determine the way your face appears. Moreover, it窶冱 just plan good sense.

This is for changing the topic of this thread and some eye candy for the guys.
Her name is Tila Nuygen, she is a popular import model in America. She's asian, but not Japanese...I think she is really pretty.

Ohhh!!! I didn't even notice that her nipples were showing. I wasn't really looking there. I should take her photo down!!!

How'd we go from dentures to nipples so danged quick?

That's how it always goes. Teeth, then nipples - next we'll be discussing belly-button piercings.
