Otomobiru

I'm looking at a word that reportedly translates to "Automobile" but I want to make sure it does because other words are found more often in a search, ie "Jidōsha"/"Kuruma". However, I am working on an art project and they don't fit.

At the same time though, "Otomobiru" also sounds like someone is making fun of the way a person might be pronouncing automobile. There is a reference to "Otomobiru Shokai" which is said to mean "Automobile Company" though "Shokai" translates to "first time" in google translate.

I find "Otomobiru" to be more appealing for my project. Does it actually mean "Automobile"?

There are many variations to represent long vowels in Romaji. "Otomobiru" is a variation of the transliteration of "automobile". See the following explanation on wiki.

"Shokai" is a good example. "Shōkai(long vowel)" means "company / firm" (this word also can mean "introduction" or "inquiry", though), whereas "shokai(short vowel)" is "first time". Similarly, "otomobiru" can cause the same confusion since "oto(short vowel)" means "sound". I highly recommend to use "ōtomōbiru" or "ōtomobīru" if you choose this word.
