Ok, I've seen english journals about japan, what about the other way around?

Recently I've been having alot of fun of searching on google "My trip to japan" and finding peoples websites that they made about their trips to japan, what it was like, etc. But what I REALLY want to know is what japanese who travel to america think of the country. I can't really write japanese, so maybe someone could help me out by searching in some keywords of japanese (in japanese) on google to find their websites of what it was like in america? That'd be great. Don't japanese people visist america too?

What would be the point of us doing the searching and reading, translating or summarizing for you? You have displayed on these forums a most remarkable ability to ignore answers to your posts or an incredible inability to understand them. We'd do all the work and look up to find that you're off chasing a butterfly somewhere or distracted by the latest shiny object to come into your field of vision.

Thanks mdchachi. I Guess I can translate the page into english through google. Mikecash, all your posts I've read tend to be negative, as well as your private messages, and your journal. No wonder my japanese friend left these forums. Some people are just rude.

I've tended to grow more negative toward you because you ask questions, seemingly ignore the replies, and then ask practically the same question over again in a new thread.

I've only sent you ONE private message, and that was in reply to an unsolicited private message from you, and one which I wish I had deleted unanswered. One which was perhaps the best example so far that you either don't pay attention or fail to absorb anything put before you. Would you mind if I share the contents of it openly here?

I don't always agree with Mike but generally I think he's one of the most knowledgable and BS-free posters on this site. I'm sorry to say, he's asbsolutely spot on with his observations of your behaviour. It's good that you have an interest in Japan, but you seem to have an obsession with creating new threads on subjects that have either been covered 20 times before or containing questions to which you pay absolutely no attention when someone answers. Furthermore the status of your 'trip' to Japan seems to change almost every time you post leaving me wondering whether everything you say can be trusted.

Mike may be tough at times (as I admit, am I) but he's also pretty fair and often gives credit when it's due. I think rather than accusing him of rudeness, it would be to your credit to consider what he said.

Personally I haven't read any Japanese travel journals, but I did recently read through a Japanese travel guide to England my girlfriend bought before we took a trip back home. It was reasonably accurate but contained a number of myths which seem to perpetuate in Japan (e.g. London is frequently foggy - which seems to be a commonly held belief here). The funniest part though was a section on "The English Character" which described the personality of English people. I can't remember much of what it said, but I clearly remember it describing us as "more refined than Americans" (rough translation) which had me in stitches. ;-)

I tend to share your assessment there, goldcoinlover. If a reply requires work that the poster isn't willing to put in, this is the internet -- we all have the freedom not to answer and go quietly on with our own lives without making a series of posts on how much your personal feelings have changed (whatever relevance that has to the question of the thread or goldcoinlover personally) and how much you'd recommend someone's behavior be changed that has absolutely no direct impact on anyone here.

Mdchachi apparently had a ready-available link he put up without any fanfare
which goldcoinlover than thanked him for and no further demands were made.
A few seconds of thought are enough to convince me there's no terribly pernicious wrongdoing, in this instance at least.

See? 4 or 5 people here, including Elizabeth, agree with mikecash. You know that is total BS. I'm obviously not welcome here. I thought I would be welcome here. I Just came here to get some ideas about japan. I tried to make threads I thought would be interesting for everyone. Go ahead mikecash, show them what I said. Show them how much of an idiot I am since you think that. My life is already bad enough. You don't know the situation I'm in right now.

Nope, I don't think you're not welcome here. If you are then no one would reply to you. And no, I dont hate you, and I like most of your topics. Good stuff, but you know what, there are already tons of post about most of the stuff you posted and posting it again means people who are trying to help(mostly already posted in the other post) have to post yet again, the same thing. I really like your "Moving to japan, questions." and if you keep all the almost similar and related stuff in that one thread it would help the people trying to help you helping you as for example Why can't a gaijin do more than teach english? ,Moving to japan, questions. ,Almost graduated from high school, need some help. ,Please help, I plan to move to japan. etc etc. But yea, as you can see from the similar thread you've created, you tend to dump that thread and ignoring what other have posted in the last thread.

And yea, we don't know the situation you're currently in, and yea we don't know how's bad your life is currently, because you don't share it with us. This is the internet, head over to the chit-chat forum and if you open up theres no one going to "insert negative stuff here" you, and even if they do just put them on ignore. I'm sure peole like Uncle Frank or some other caring regulars(kara nari, kinsao etc) over there would like to help you ease your pain.

you took this a little bit too far. ofcourse you are still welcome here just because people agree with mike doesnt mean they dont like you. Mike is a man full of wisdom that should have atleast, atleast, four statues around the pacific rim dedicated to him, at least four.

Now wait, gold coin lover. The people you mentioned are not mobsters out to lynch you. Mike had a complaint, but you thought that was not the case. Silverpoint had a point to make, but Elizabeth sopke for you, not against, and all the others only tried to help out because they cared about you. And by the way, Elizabeth only said "I tend to share your assessment there, goldcoinlover" to mean Mike's remark might have been a bit harsh (I think), not necessarily fanning your disappoinment with Mike. Looking at the statistics, it comes down to people who are

1. against your posting style : 2
2. agreeable with your style: 2
3. neutral : 1
4. unrelated comment (without proof): 1

so basically it is a mixed bag of opinions. It's not that bad if you count the heads, so I think you are doing okay.

I like your posts and your questions are interesting although I may not have responded to all of them. These questions are bound to come up again over time; who said every thread had to new is there is such a thing ? (Ideally they shouldn't, but not always easy to do.) With new members who had not had the chance to go through the 200,000 previous posts, and unfamiliar with the search box, you committed no great crime here. Why don't you and Mike go to the Kissing thread and make up; or just abandon this thread for a while so things can cool down a bit ?

I have called into question your reading skills

I would also like to point out that you're the one who brought up private messages. I don't divulge the contents of them without permission, and normally make it a personal policy to not mention in public places that private correspondence has even taken place. Given your current anguish and turmoil, I will ignore your permission to share the contents.

As for Mike calling into question your reading skills, I think you've admirably demonstrated the justification for this yourself. Elizabeth essentially jumped to your defence, and you outrightly accused her (by name) of being against you.

For the record I don't hate you. Dude, this is basically an anonymous forum. No one knows who you are, where you live or what you look like (unless you've posted in the photo section and I haven't seen it). Don't let it get to you - this is just the cut and thrust of internet forums. Hell, there are probably plenty of people who don't like me either. Think about what was said about your posting and it'll probably make you a more trusted and respected person.

I couldn't agree with Silverpoint's sentiments more strongly. I admire your interest and enthusiasm. I admire that you initiate discussions (something I rarely do). I just wish that you would focus and pay a little bit more attention to what people say when they post replies in your threads.

GoldCoin: I understand you're upset and such, but I think you're taking things to the extreme. Like silverpoint and some others have said, i think you just misread what mike wrote. No one hates you or wants you to leave the forum, but its natural for people to agree or disagree with you. You shouldn't take what people say here personally. "High School drama" should stay in high school - ya know what i mean? But i do understand that in your mental state that you would think people are lashing out at you, but just take a deep breath, and say, "whooooooozzzza" (oh, and don't forget to rub your earlobes like Martin Lawrence did in BadBoys2)

A quicker way would be to make some friends from Japan who have been to the United States, and ask them what they thought of it...

Second, if you REALLY want to search on the internet, start with installing the Japanese IME, look up Jim Breen's page and that will get you started, (just type in Jim Breen in google, it can't be simpler)...

GCL... just put forth some effort, nobody likes to have to read the manual FOR YOU.

I tend to agree with this sort of frustration as well. At first I tried my best to explain what I could, answer the many emails (I even gave my personal email address for further questions) or PM's I recieved about Japan, and other options. He seemed misguided, but at least dedicated. A friend from college, Nice Gaijin also attempted to help, and so did numerous others from this forum.

However, both me and others eventually just gave up. I especially gave up when I found out that he was mentioning to my friend from college that "I frightened him" after all I have done is reply to his questions. I doubt I'll ever figure out why he was saying that him. No more help from me after finding out that. I've had enough warning flags pop up now.

I'll only say one last thing. There is a great deal of very good information on this forum if you know who to ask and where to look. I am now currently in Japan at Waseda University seeing first hand many of the stories I've heard from friends and some of the knowledgable posters on this forum. Some of the forum members are extremely experienced as well. It is up to you to take it seriously or not, and give it an unbaised view while applying it to reality. That goes to all posters here.
