Not Working for a Japanese Company in Tokyo

Hello,

I have been having trouble figuring this situation out. I work in a field where I can be anywhere as long as I have Internet access. None of my customers are in Japan, and my company is not in Japan.

I want to live in Tokyo for about six months starting in February. And I will be going in and out a few times so will not be there for more ninety days in a row.

Questions:

1. Do I need a work visa?

2. If yes, it is closed to Engineer or Researcher, but I don't have any contract with a Japanese organization as it says in the description.

3. Am I better off using the ninety day visa exemption and just say I'm visiting friends - - which is truthfully the reason why I want to be there.

4. Is there any official link that describes this situation.

You don't need a work visa, eg I can go overseas for a holiday and run my business back home by phone. If you were conducting business here that would be a different story.

Just get a holiday visa, but that is for only 90 days. If you want to be here for 6 months you will need to leave the country and come back again. Good chance to hit the casinos in Korea if you ask me.

I agree that you will not be able to get a work visa.

What is your nationality? 90 days is the limit for some nationalities, but 180 for others. Don't expect that leaving at 89 days and then returning soon will automatically be acceptable to immigration, either.
