I have spent a few hours here, and so far I find conversations by all sorts of expats who are living in Japan. This is great! But I'm also not encountering Japanese voices except in conversations about English usage.

Am I just not finding the right conversations? Is there a better place to find conversations about Japan in English where I will find Japanese participants, either here on JREF, or elsewhere on the web?

Majority of JREF members are non-Japanese people - some of them are married to Japanese national and have been living in Japan many years, others are living in Japan or have lived in Japan before, or those who are just interested in Japan and Japanese things, but there are some Japanese members too though only a few are active members.

If you are researching about Japan in a specific field, I think you'd get more information you want if you post your own questions on specific things rather than just browsing the posts in the past or waiting for new posts that may match your interest by chance... :)

Kosz, undrentide. (I guess this site doesn't support diacriticals. That came out as "Kテカsz").

I will certainly post some specific questions. Sometimes the most interesting things I learn, though, are the things that come up in ongoing conversations.
