Nice guys at Yakuba

I am in the process of getting a visa in Japan at the moment.

Today the wife and I went down to the town hall to get an 'important document'. It took about 40 minutes to produce and cost ﾂ??00.

At 6 o'clock the phone rang, and it was a guy from the town hall.
"Sorry, but we made a little mistake on the paper we gave you. You will need a new one..."

"...I will bring it to your house now, before I go home.":bikkuri:

That would never happen here...although sometimes they will bend the rules if you're polite enough (and most importantly don't expect them to do so!) around here. Nara must be rural enough to have a more local tightness to it. Glad to hear that you've had a good experience with the ole' boys in city hall!

Well, I've never heard of such nicety coming from our local city hall.

But, once when I conducted a search for relatives in behalf of an American and sent an email to a yakuba in an island in southern Japan, presently only vague information, the person who read my email conducted a search and found the relatives!! He did something great to bring together two families that were searching for each other for many years!!

I can't thank him enough!!
