Hi everybody, my name is Sergio. My wife Alejandra and myself are from Mexico, but her great grandfather was from Japan. He arrived to Mexico around 1900, or so we believe. The truth is that she doesn't have enough information about him, or her Japanese heritage, so she having japanese blood is merely anecdotical. So we are trying to start putting the pieces together, to get to know a little bit more of her ancestors and their past. Her last name is a modification and we know is not the original, but currently is Takasita.
Well, that's a brief introduction of the reason I'll be around here getting to know a little bit more of Japan's culture.
Greetings!

Welcome to the forum, Sergio, nice to have you on board!

Takasita could be a modification of 'Takeshita' (竹下), a common family name, or of the rarer 'Takashita' (鷹下 and probably other variations).
