New default style

Anything working fine here, using my style :haihai:
I looks even smoother now
If anyone wants to try it out, simply use the link in my sig.

Not as easy as it sounds, I will continue to work on it.

Right, that's one Firefox piccy and three Internet Explorer ones.
Thanks for sharing your screenies. I am not worried about Firefox. That's the way textfields are rendered in Mozilla. I reckon if we disabled the smilie table everything would be back to normal. I am however clueless about the behaviour in IE. As I have said earlier, I am unable to reproduce it.

Thanks for your feedback. I don't think that the colours we used are flashy (and I have checked them on different screens and resolutions). These are actually the original colours vB2 used to be shipped with.

Anyhow, as I have mentioned a couple of times (not specifically directed at you, Brooker):

- the new style is an effort to bring the forum in line with the rest of the website. Perhaps some of our forum activists are not aware of the fact that JREF consists of more than just the forum, lolol.

- the other styles are still available. Now, apart from Paul who seems to be unable to switch to other styles, just scroll to the style selector at the bottom of each page and select your favourite style.

yeah, I have to agree here. I'm running at a rather large resolution, and the forums just look like a stick to me... if you're gonne restrict it so it doesn't flow all the way out to the edges, you might wanna do it with % instead of px.
Most of our users are on 800x640 or 1064x768. I was thinking of adding a second default style using % for visitors on higher screen resolutions.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that.

That's not quite the case. Thanks to Jeisan's suggestion I know know that I can change style, but not to
Orange
- Child-of-orange
or
-- Orange grey

From what he said I presume the same is true for him.

orange grey and child of orange work fine for me they just have abit of a bigger side gap than the others, not much though. orange, new default, seems to be stuck in an 800x600 box. i still prefer beige (the old forum default, before we could pick styles) to all the others.

Odd _now_ orange-grey and child of orange work for me.

As I have mentioned before, the new style - as the rest of JREF - is centered in a 760px table in an effort to streamline the layout.

I'm getting used to beige.
Using the old styles you will miss a lot of new features, as I have only time to support the default style.

The beige style didn't use web-safe colours and looks pretty dull on my screen.

You say dull, I say easy to read.

New default looks great. I preferred being able to see everyone's Location while using vb Blue instead of just a flag, but it's a small price to pay, because I like Orange's colors way better now. And it has more continuity with the rest of the site.

I agree. I really don't like flashy. One of the reasons I like this site is that it's easy to read and navigate.

I'm glad I could start a trend (assuming that I did).

I'm with the two of you as well. Easy on the eyes is about all I ask for out of any webpage, so the style that suits me here is beige.

(Yeah, I know: that was a really bad rhyme, but I felt like being really cheesy for a second. Sorry if it made you hurl. :sorry
