need help with some translation

this is from the manga bakuman.

the 2 characters have just gotten back their early results for their first manga chapter and they are disappointed that they got 3rd place. however their editor miura san tells them that its not bad at all and that they are doing pretty good. character B then mentions how miura san doesn't seem to care that they might get a lower ranking than another manga. the following conversation between the 2 characters ensues.

A: miura san mo hidoi kekka jyanakute yokatta tte anshin no hou ga katterun da to omou. mada wakai shi koko de hikishimeyoutoka motto ue wo nante iu yoyuu wa nai.
B: so so soko chotto tantou toshite douyo? tte omowanai

i'm trying to translate what A is saying. so far i have:
Mr. Miura also says that the result is good rather than bad. I think that feeling at ease is for the best. We're still young so why don't we brace ourselves here? We can't expect to get any higher (since it is only the early results).

What i'm confused about is that in the official english translation, person A instead says for his second sentence "he's still young so he probably isn't aiming for much higher than that". when I'm reading it though, it feels to me that A is talking about himself being young rather than saying that his editor is still young.

am i interpreting this incorrectly? i've read through this conversation several times and i still do not agree with the english translation.

The official translation is correct. The subject of the second sentence is 三浦さん.

miura san mo hidoi kekka jyanakute yokatta tte anshin no hou ga katterun da to omou. mada wakai shi koko de hikishimeyoutoka motto ue wo nante iu yoyuu wa nai.
B: so so soko chotto tantou toshite douyo? tte omowanai

I think the reason you came to that conclusion is that you've split the 1 sentence into 2 sentences, whereas I think it should just be just 1 sentence, as in miura-san mo hidoi kekka jyanakute yokatta to iu anshin no hou ga katterun da to omou.

tte is slang for to iu and can modify what comes after it like above. You probably know that already but the problem is you split the sentence there. When it's just 1 sentence it turns out to mean something along the lines of "I think Mr. Miura is feeling fine with getting good results and not horrible ones" and it would indeed make the 2nd sentence (the wakai part) about him as well. So I'd say the English translation is correct.

ah i see. i did notice that the line right after it seems to say "that... that... don't you wonder how he is as an editor for thinking like that?".

i was confused on how to parse the first sentence so I ended up incorrectly splitting it into 2.
