Name Translation

Hi guys.
I would like to ask for help about translating the name of my daughter.
Her name is "Iona Cielo", i would like to see it in calligraphy art (If that is what it is called).
Please kindly send me an email of how it looks so i can have it tattooed at my lower back.

Does her name have a literal translation, or are you looking for characters that make the same/similar sounds?

I just got the name Iona from a card game and then Cielo was a spanish name which means heaven.

Iona was an angel from that card game and then i connect Cielo with it to mean 'Angel of Heaven'.

Maybe you could translate Angel of Heaven instead of Iona Cielo to be easier.

Stuff like "Angel of Heaven" never really translates well, just pick characters that can have the pronunciation which match your daughters name. I am not sure how your daughter's name is pronounced though.. .. so just guessing here but you would want characters pronounced "i" い "o" お "na" な "sei" せい "lo" ろ

But I would highly recommend you just get it in Katakana because nobody will understand what you mean.. イオナ セイロ

I think Cielo is written シエロ in katakana if we follow Spanish pronunciation.

Iona is an english name. How about it?

I've checked several websites on alphabets and pronunciation of Spanish language.
They say that "ci" is pronounced close to ﾆ歎 in Japanese language.

I cannot find the source that "ie" has special combination to be pronounced differently, so my understanding is ci-e-lo which is close to ﾆ歎ﾆ竪ﾆ陳 (shi-e-ro) in Japanese.


But I'm no expert of Spanish language, maybe you have different pronunciation system in Philippines?
ﾆ短ﾆ辰ﾆ陳 is something close to "se i ro" or "say ro", is it what it is supposed to be pronounced?

i think cielo is pronounced in spanish at 'tselo' as i have seen in wiktionary.

It is the phonetic equivalent in Katakana of Iona Cielo and does not mean Angel of Heaven. But once again I am uncertain on how the name actually sounds when spoken so it is hard from me to know if the Katakana letters i wrote you are accurate to her name. Undrentide seems to know more about Spanish pronunciation than I do though, so I would go with her recommendation.

I agree with undrentide that "Iona Cielo" is イオナ・シエロ
if written in Japanese.
