Nagoya University Global 30 Program 2016 (Graduate)

Hi Sergio and anyone that's visiting this topic.
I've just conducted the interview with the admissions committee couples of minutes ago. *my hands are still shaking and my heart's still pounding hard*
There are 5 members of the faculty, who came from different department. You will join the meeting 10 mins before they start (probably for reviewing your application materials or so...). *Believe me that was the most nerve-racking 10 minutes of your life*
FYI, I do not know much about other faculties but here are the topics included in the Grad school of Economics interview:
- Introduce about yourself
- Why you choose that specific program?
- Career goal
- Research proposal: summarize your proposal/ time frame, additional questions are given to see if you're really into this research (This would be the most important/centered topic. *I got like 5 or 6 I was dead now*)
- Something personal like: if you work part-time, if you hang out much LOL
- What's your current status, if you're working then you have to leave the company or what?
- What's your Japanese level?
- If you don't receive any scholarship, would you be able to pay for everything?
- Are you applying for any other programs?
- Do you have any other questions for them?
That's pretty much everything I could remember.
*I'm gonna lay here and die huhuhu*
Good luck for the next interviewees.

Damn ! Good thing you already finished it!, How do you feel about it? Do you think you can make it?
And thank you so much for the information ill definitely use it wisely.

I don't know yet. My performance today is substandard :(. My research is somewhat poor. But when I asked them if any pros are interested in my research, they said yes and there's some already agree to support me.
I have mixed feelings here. I really don't know

Well that actually sounds quite nice, i dont think any of us have a big or awesome research, and from my knowledge when someone goes for masters degree the demand is not that high in the "research plan" area, im actually part of a graduate program in my university and im part of the interview committee and normally everyone understands that the people aiming for masters should not be qualified as the ones going for PhD.

Edit: So if your doubts mainly come from your research plan, i think you are totally fine.

Wow, you're part of the admissions committee? You must be really competitive then. In my case hopefully you're right. But I'm so frustrated right now...
Anyway, hope everything goes well with you. Please keep me updated so we could share our concerns and thoughts.

Well yea my university is not as big as nagoyas of course but yea im part of the committee, i dont think im a big competition and apparently neither does the nagoya committee hahaha. Of course ill keep you updated ! right now i just sent an email asking for information but i havent got anything about the interview, hopefully everything goes well for both ! good luck !

Okay never mind, they just answered my mail and told me to be patient for the next days or weeks....
And that they havent scheduled any interview or result. So yea ill wait :(

Oh so it does depend on the faculty. So hope you and me have a fun time waiting haha.

Just want to share that I've got the official offer letter from Nagoya Graduate School of Economics. :D. Now just the part of waiting for scholarship ==

Look forward to the good news from you Sergio.

Hey tracy ! Congratulations !!!!! Hopefully you can get a scholarship too!
For my part i dont think it went good at all.
I never received the email for the interview even when i asked for information they just told me to keep waiting :/. They actually told me to wait until today to check the accepted people, which i dont even know where to check. I dont think there are going to be any good news for me but im really happy for you, hopefully ill try again later and meet you there.
Thank you so much for your information and good luck with your studies !

So sorry to hear that. Really hope that you would get the expected result and look forward to seeing you in Nagoya.
Your support does mean a lot to me.

You support really meant a lot for me too. This time you got it, hopefully next time i will. Keep in touch :) and be prepared because the hardest part just started for you. Good luck and have fun. <3

Hey there ! I actually forgot to told you that after i had no interaction with my professor i attempted to apply for the other program i had opportunity with (the medical school), anyway i got the rejection letter from the graduate school of science but at the same time i was also applying for this one, and to what i can see and what my new professor says, im probably gonna be able to meet you in Nagoya after all in October :P. How are the scholarships going by the way?

I don't know I should be happy or sad for you haha. Anw GREAT to hear that! Finally good news from you has come. So you'll be in Grad school of Medical?
As for me, nothing has been updated regarding the scholarship yet. I guess I'll pay the registration fee and then ask for some private scholarship later on....
Again, good for you. Hope to see each other in October !! Yay yay

OMG OMG, I am being nominated for G30 Scholarship at Nagoya, just a second ago (cwl).
Quite much good news in a day...

Hey there !! Yea ill be in a doctoral program in the graduate medical school or at least looks that way, the professor told me that if i do a regular interview ill get in easily.

And wait what? Is there a G30 Scholarship? What do they give you?
Anyway, awesome!!!! good luck !

Cool. Good luck for the interview.

So G30 Scholarship is actually MEXT recommended by University, so for my case, I've been recommended to the MEXT by G30 Office, Nagoya University. Just calm myself down cuz there would be a long way to get there.

Damn thats actually a huge thing, how did you even do it. You got like an angel as a professor, most professors have been very neutral with me except for this last one, hopefully you will get it.

Actually it may seem weird but I don't even know who is my professor. All I did is submit my application to the Admissions office and then got selected...

Wait what, holy Sh#$%. Have we even been applying for the same thing? Haha. I can only suppose that for masters degree everything is different. I didnt even have the chance to apply to any program unless i had a supervisor accepting me to their laboratory, and that was like the hardest part to do. Even when i did got a supervisor they were really neutral and weird to me lol, except for this one, this one is really great.

Thats a shocking one... but anyway everything went really well for both of us i suppose. Does this mean you are going to start as a research student or something like that?. And have you started with the visa things?

I'm not quite sure if this is normal procedure or not... And I don't think I will be enrolling as a research student, more as a usual master student. For the VISA things, I'll start it from May.

Edited: What about you?

Im not sure how the visa procedure works but to my understanding, once you get officially accepted the faculty you applied is so suppose to produce a guide on how to process the visa and when, so ill wait until i have the official answer.

Yeah I did cross this website couple of times but never notice it would be such helpful. Thank you so much. Now I could know what to prepare and get some steps ahead. But there's something I forgot to tell you. In my second year at university (undergrad), I was once nominated by my university to have an exchange course in Japan as a JASSO scholar. So the paperwork is not something quite strange to me. However, in the end of that time, I failed to get accepted by the Japan university by I guess... stupidly anwsering them that I could not afford my study without the scholarship.... Hopefully nothing bad would happen this time. Again...

About the Visa, the G30 office told me that it would be proceeded sometime in May, information will be available later on.
