Mystery about iPhone game in Japan

Hi,

I work for a game developer and publisher called Kwalee, based in England. We make a free game for the iPhone called Pussy Flip, which is the game of reversi featuring lots of cool cat themes.
Japan is one of the top countries in the world for playing reversi, yet we are getting very few downloads of our game there.
What are we doing wrong?
What can we improve?

not cute enough for Japan and it's in English.
