Movies To Look Forward To in 2005!

I don't know about you, but there's four flicks I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing in 2005. In no particular oder, they are:

KING KONG: Director Peter Jackson takes us from Middle Earth to Skull Island with his remake of King Kong which will be more like the 1933 original than the horrid 1976 version. Naomi Watts (The Ring) gets to be the object of the big monkey's affection. Can't wait to see what it'll be like!

BATMAN BEGINS: I've seen the online trailers, and this is definitely gonna rock the house. Dark, edgy and excellent, just like Tim Burton's first bat-movie, Christian Bale was the perfect choice to play the Dark Knight. This won't disappoint!

WAR OF THE WORLDS: Steven Spielberg directs and Tom Cruise stars in my all-time favorite sci-fi flick. Can't go wrong with that tandem! Also saw the trailer for this online and it looks like it'll be great.

STAR WARS, EPISODE 3: Saving the best for last, the Star Wars saga is complete as Anakin Skywalker succumbs to the dark side and becomes Darth Vader. After how disappointing Episodes 1 & 2 were (at least they were to me), hopefully George Lucas got this right this time.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Batman Begins the most. I'm a HUGE fan of Frank Miller's work, and I know they are trying to be true to his style. Aren't they making Sin City into a movie too?

My all time favorite comic book moment; Batman beats the crap out of Superman, then dies of a heart attack.

I believe Sin City has been made into a movie. I think I saw somewhere that Bruce Willis is in it.

There was all this hype about "Phantom of the Opera" late last year. So I was kind of anticipating it. I saw it last week, and I must say, it was better than expected. So great! Deserves a second viewing. The cinematography is beautiful. Everything's gorgeous. One complaint: The Phantom was too good looking to be really that frightening. >_<. And it made me want Christine to end up with him instead of Raoul.

"War of the Worlds" came first, wa-a-a-a-a-a-y back in 1953, so you could say "ID4" was a clone of that sci-fi classic. Still, comparisons between the two are bound to be made.

War of the Worlds starts way before that, but not as a flick. Orson Welles panicked half of the Eastern Seaboard with his infamous radio broadcast. And, of course, there was the book....

I'll be honest: I am underwhelmed. I would need to check the box marked "none of the above."

I'm all for King Kong and War of the Worlds, and I would be willing to go see Star Wars: Episode 3, but I am not a big fan of Batman, so I don't know what to think/feel about the movie.

However, I am also looking forward to Sin City.

Being a huge Fantastic 4 fan, I really don't know what to think about what I have seen from the trailers. I want to think it will be alright, but just from looking at the trailer, I almost want to boycott it.

I hope they can make these dark-and-edgy. I felt I was watching a kiddies movie, Episodes 1 , in the desert world of Tatooine the race in the desert. The little kid driving the race machine

Star Wars will probably suck as bad as the 1st and 2ond episodes did. And it hurts me saying this, as I am a big Star Wars fan, but... man, the new movies are SO BAD. *cries at her own words*

Hopefully George Lucas can redeem himself for episodes 1 and 2. As for war of the worlds, I was never a big fan of the 1953 version. I had read the book before I had seen that film and it doesn't really follow the novel. In fact the only thing it has in common is they are Martians and they die of a cold. Hope the new film might follow the basic story line a bit better, but Hollywood is good at taking classic literature and turning it into pap, not all the time, just most of the time. I think the best example of that was that godawful remake of 'The Time Machine'. :kaioken: :banghead: You might gather I didn't like it.

I'm just waiting for Batman Begins, that's about it. Yes, I do believe that Goerge Lucas can make up for Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2. Let's just hope that he does.

Episode I was hard to get over, but I think people have been all too harsh on Episode II. And even Episode I had it's moments - the jedi fight in the end is great IMHO.

I am looking forward to number three, and i did like numbers one and two, but i do agree that they are nothing compared to the first three movies, four, five and six.

Idon't know what else i'mlokking forward to, i don't really know whats being released thie year. I do want to see Sponge bob the movie though, thats out now

When Good Jedi go Bad.....

I saw it today...damn it was good. One of the better, if not best, movies i've seen.

I didn't think much to the movie, but then I have seen the stage show. I felt that Christine was weak singer. She is supposed to be an opera singer, not a pop singer. Raoul wasn't a very strong character either. If I was Christine I would have stayed with the Phantom rather than a rather limp hero. It was a case of bad casting in my opinion

I watched an interview with George Lucas the other night on 60 minutes and he made an interesting statement when asked about the harsh criticism of Episodes I and II. He basically said that he didn't care what all of the critics were saying. I don't blame him

He also said that he wouldn't push to have the PG-13 rating changed on episode III. They showed a lot of footage and some of the tricks on how they made it...really looks pretty good to me, I've been a huge Star Wars fan since the first one came out. I actually enjoyed all of them and I think that EIII will be great. Lucas is just glad to be done with it...he actually said that he wants to just sit back now and make pictures that suck!

I'm also a big FF fan, and I've also seen the trailers (online), and I think it's gonna be pretty good. No doubt there was trepidation from fans about the first Batman movie, X-Men and Spider-Man, and those turned out well.

I'm sure some fanboy with absolutely no life will whine and ***** about Ben Grimm being bald before he becomes the Thing, but Michael Chiklis has his starring role on The Shield as menacing AND chrome domed cop Vic Mackey to consider.

Let's wait until the movie comes out and we see it before pronouncing judgement.

but to stay in 2005 for a while im looking forward to king kong... wonder what peter is going to bring us with that... any of you guys saw the horor of peter jackson, with all the blood in it... and they ear falling in the desert....

Yeah, the sequel to Pirates should be cool. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones will be in it as the dad of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).

That may have been me. Ken Watanabe will play arch bat-villain Ra's Al Ghul. I've seen the trailer and it'll be awesome!

I'm in for Star Wars Episode III. I even watched the original trilogy. Hope this one makes up for a lack of speed in pace from I and II.
