'monka' and 'nanda'

hi!

I was hoping somebody could explain me these two words..

(if it's not clear, this is bilbo speaking )

two sentences in which they occur:

da ga te ni irerareru monka. danjite, kono itosii mono wo, hanasu (from hanareru) monka.

kore ha mou aitu no mono ja nai, watasi no nanda.

monka=mono ka Basically this is like a strong negative saying that there is no way it is like that/would do that. Kind of like a rhetorical question.

nanda=na no desu/nandesu = nodesu/ndesu. Explanatory version of desu.


Hope that helps. By the way, are you able to type in Japanese script? It makes it a lot easier to read.

sorry for the romaji - I'm planning on configuring japanese input here, but I still have to look into how to do that under my current version of linux..
