Monbukagakusho Undergraduate 2016

Does anyone know if I have to focus on calculus (Integrals) for this year´s math exam? I´ve seen calculus problems in some papers and I´m having a hard time trying to learn it since I haven´t seen this kind of problem at school.

I was wondering the same thing as Kek21, and I also read someone's post about the undergraduate application. The guy said that you need to do well on the Japanese portion in order to be competitive. This guy was awarded with a MEXT undergraduate scholarship and did well on the Japanese portion but horrible on the math section. I think that in this case his Japanese skills just so happened to save him and compensate for his math skills. Thank you!

I know that Japanese test score gives you an advantage over other applicants, but I think Math score is much more important, so I want to get at least the enough score in order to pass the examination. I will study Japanese too though

Yeah! of course It would be an advantage if you score similar to other applicants. And I just asked some philipanos who have given their exams and they say that calculus covered a major part of the exam. Nonetheless I'm scared to death now coz' that's my weakest area in maths. Have you guys any hints of the exams? Do you guys know anyone who has already given the tests? and yeah all the best KEK21! your exams are near!
all the very best

I think that I'm supposed to be receiving an answer today so I'll let you know when I get it. Thanks for the update on the exams as well!

Hi, im new here. Im indonesian who study japanese language. Im interested with monbukagakusho program since i was in senior high school. But i think it's not easy to get that scholarship. We need to study hard everyday everytime.(^^)

That's true @ayughea !
but you never get a scholarship by chance, you gotta earn it
have you applied for the scholarship?

Haven't received a notice yet, but I plan on cramming for math. It's usually my best subject, but I'm worried about the Japanese portion since I've only taken German. What methods and/or resources do you use for studying? My website doesn't have any info regarding the exam dates or anything :/

B
@Brendin : actually most of the syllabus of the exam is just what's taught in most high schools, so don't worry. Just try to practice some goddamn tricky questions. And Japanese ain't compulsory, if you don't know any Japanese right now, you are out of chances to attempt the mext japanese language exam which has complicated kanji's and japanese grammer.

No notifications by email or consulate website yet I guess that my consulate has different dates for all of that.

natural sciences
that means you will be taking more tests. natural sciences A, B, or C? For the math you could use the free site khanacademy, its quite thorough, also has science on there too.

Hello, everyone!

I'm also a 2016 MEXT scholarship applicant too. I'm from Thailand. Nice to know you guys. It seems like that some of you have already taken the exam, but mine is still coming.
I wonder if anyone has a detailed solution of the chemistry paper of 2009. Especially for part 4, I was totally blank when I saw it. Thx in advance. ^_^

Good day! I am glad at least to be registered here. I am taking humanities(social sciences) and I was wondering does anybody have some information about this year's mathematics A? Or at least what to make efforts on?
Is it true? What kind of calculus? I guess these were integrals and derivatives, right?
Last time I'm deeply stressed about all this thing and feel like it will change nothing if I continue learning it... Well, at least I want to try make it better unless feelings. Would be glad to have something about math.
Also I've read about the same situation but not successful at the ending, considering that, I guess failing the math would not consequent so easy, though I think particularly that may happen with me. Anyway, can you give link on this guy, please?
Full of gratitude,
LuxH

For people who have already taken the Japanese test: Was it similar to the 2013 test? does it still have the written kanji segment?

Hey Jink640! some of the guys who have taken the test did mention that it was difficult!
hiragana and katakana parts are easy, just asks for some basic grammer, but kanji's too were there and that's what really makes the test competitive
