(4) Major Field of Study:
The field of study must be in the area in which the applicant has studied (or is now studying) or is related. An applicant must choose maximum 3 universities where s/he can study and research the field of her/his choice.
I suggest you read the application guidelines thoroughly as they can vary slightly between embassies. In general it is not possible to apply for a subject you have no related degree in, however passionate you are about it.
I'm assuming you are talking about the research proposal? I'm sorry that is something you need to figure out on your own. Please see the link I have shared in my previous post. Its golden week right now. They have holidays for a week. Dont expect them to reply now.Well I contacted a few professors and told them about my research idea , none of them has replied to me till now. I didnt ask for LOA straightaway but mailed them about my idea asking them if they I am applicable to research under them. In how many days after mailing research idea do you usually hear from a professor
Thats also an option but I suggest keep trying. You might not have enough time after you pass the preliminary stage.Oh I didn't knew that. I was contacting them because my research is a bit different from traditional mechanical engineering projects. But I will take your advice and mail them after preliminary rounds
You have emailed a couple of professors, right? You can put their names on the form and if asked you can say you have sent an email to them and that you are interested in these labs.Well I understand that because even passing these stages if no university or professor wants me in .I don't get the scholarship.
I have a doubt though. They are asking to submit all the forms by 18 May which includes placement preference form. I don't know what three universities to fill in .@indojindesu
I think white. When I had to submit photographs for study abroad, white was the color suggested. I think that is the safest bet, but please double check.Pls what color should the photograph background be in?

I intend to apply for the MEXT scholarship 2018 as a research student but i can't seem to find much informations about dentists especially concerning fields of research that are more likely to be accepted in japanese universities. I'd be grateful if anyone can share his experience or have some suggestions to where I can gather more informations concerning dentistry in japan.

Hm... I am not sure, because I lean toward sticking with it especially if you have proven research in the field and have a passion for it. Are there any professors at universities who are researching disability? You could read their work/research and see if you can latch onto that in your research plan? I'll finish a BA in Japanese Studies this july, and my GPA is fine. I'm working on a research proposal and I want to research a part of Japanese society that isn't sexy (disability). I'm a bit torn between going with what I know (and I know it well, I wrote many papers on the subject) or just go with something more mainstream....What do you think?
Ask the Embassy. Best way to be sure.It looks like they are accepting free format letters, so who should the recommendation letter be addressed to? Is it the Embassy proper? The MEXT Scholarship Committee?
Include a note with your form while submitting them explaining this. Or send an Email to the Embassy about this. If you get through to the interview you can explain it there as well.Hi! Anybody who got the scholarship even without a published paper or thesis? My course during undergrad does not require thesis. Instead, we were tasked to create a feasibility study. I wanted to indicate though that I've already made a research proposal before. Although it isn't a full-blown thesis, it is more of a preparatory. Need a feedback for this item. Thanks
