MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2011: General Discussions.

i got it =D woohooooo

jackyoboy, congrats to both of us =)

but ms yin said this does not mean that we are the scholarship holder yet.. I start to worry that what if in the end even I have letter of acceptance I still cannot get the scholarship.. to me, finance source is the most critical key for my post-grad study

anyway at least we pass another round of selection
good luck to the rest!

@prettybunny

i think it's not much of a trouble. i would suggest to include that u can also follow the supervisor's project wit grant just to be sure he / she would take u in. since u made it this far, don't be so negative =)

Hi, i am from the last year MEXT scholar and currently in Hiroshima university doing my phd here...would like to congratulate fellow malaysian that got through this year applications..anyway i was just browsing around and there are few tht commented that they r kinda worry that they cant get the scholarships despite obtaining the LOAs. well based on my past experience, i only have 1 LOAs and submitted only this to the embassy....basically i wanted to study only under this supervisor and hence sending only one but still i got through it..so dont worry as long as ur Loas are in order and ur supervisor and univeristy has no problem acccepting u, i dont see any reason why would the embassy withdrawn the recommendations unless for some weird reasons..as long as everything in order, i think u guys are already 90% sure of going...dont worry to much bout it.better worry bout the life u guys r going to face in japan next year..im here for the past 4 months and let me say its not an easy ride but its definately worth it...good luck and congrats once more..

Thanks a lot. Also thanks for the info, that solved a few questions in my mind :-)

N oh yeah another good advise if u guys r doing masters in japan, if its possible perhaps u guys should take IELTS or TOEFL before coming here..its an entrance requirement i think for most university for the masters students to hve either one of it...of course u guys can come here first and then sit for either one of it or even take TOEIC but i do think its a bit troublesome so do it first in malaysia..

hi kellylen, regarding the IELTs or TOEFL, as i graduated from Singapore, do I still need the english qualification?

Hi All,
I've been informed that the reason for being rejected was my Uni academic results werent great... I guess it's something I can't change no matter how hard I work now...

To the rest of you, continue to work for it!!

Hooooraaayyy!!!!!

I got it too!!!! I was worried sick...gosh, the suspense almost killed me :D

kellylen,

Hi🙂 thanks for your piece of advice.

tomayto,

Don't despair....although you didn't get it this round but I seriously think that there'll be something better awaiting you. I've gone through similar phase. Have faith in yourself and you will do well :)

To others who passed the preliminary screening, big congratulations!!

Hi clipvain,

All along I thought that as long as your Uni result is above certain pointers, you'll be called for the language tests. They should not reject you on that basis at this stage. But don't give up just yet. Perhaps you can try other scholarships to other countries. I'm sure as long as you're hardworking, you'll be able to give a very good account of yourself in any international laboratories.

blurcheryl,
I was wondering too, and thought they probably didn't want to go through so much hassle of checking in the initial stages? Well, that's the hard fact that I can't change. 🙂 But I won't let this get me down... maybe, there's some other way that we can still meet in Japan! =)

not just my email, i also keep refreshing this forum, lol
btw may I know is it 100% that we will get MEXT scholarship if we are recommended by our embassy?
is there any possibility that even we get recommended, we have LOA (letter of acceptance) from university, but in the end we still cant get the scholarship?

I have the same question, would someone be rejected after nominated even successfully got the LoA?

90% wasn't look too good for me. According to my prof, 80% success rate for university recommendation in his university last year(after nominated by university). However I just got rejected from university recommendation this year, the rate down to 15% this year (particularly to his university, I don't know about the rate of other universities). Horrible to me... Big trauma to me. I really hope to try it next year, both.

Ya, Blurcheryl congradulations as I expect...
Congradulations to others as well!
Very sorry for clipvain, maybe Singapore is just too tough! Hope you good luck in the future!

As far as I know, if you have only one loa from a 国立大学, 100% to be accepted finally!

Hi guys... congratz to all of you who have passed... :-) it seems that my journey stopped here for a while... :( maybe i will see some of you again in mext 2012 thread... if God's will... 🙂

it is confirmed that i wasnt selected all the best you guys

well tomayto, how can you be sure about that? i didn't receive any email yet but i sure i have to accept the fact that i'm not chosen for this time... maybe next year...

Tomayto, Clipvain
Sorry to hear the bad news. I know exactly how you feel. I've been through this too many times and don't know if I would be able to stand for it for a third time. :(
Just keep your head up, I know that most of the selected people are very qualified but I still think there's a quota of good luck in this process.
Don't blame yourself for anything, I'm sure you worked your *** off.
Don't give up your dreams, apply again, as many times as you can, get a solid answer to rejections and work on that. That's my advice, I don't know if it's a good one, but that's what I did... still waiting for my results, though :p
Ganbatte neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! We can beat this!👍👍👍
Hugs ans kisses for all of you who got the final "YES". I'm sure you deserve it, now work on getting those LOAs!!!🙂

Thanks ykk, and everyone who've been great!
I think MEXT is one of the many scholarships out there, and this shouldnt stop us from continuing our dream to study in Japan.. I'll continue working towards it!

and all the best to you ykk! Let the 3rd time be really a charm!

Wow...good that you've got such positive thinking :)
Yeah I do hope that we can still meet in Japan some day....provided I get the final confirmation from MEXT

Expected? lol You're just too kind. Anyways, big thank you goes to you, mate for the interview questions.

You sure bout 100% acceptance? I'm kinda worried bout that though. Somehow I don't get the secured feeling that I'm going to japan for sure since the embassy stated clearly that we still gotta wait for the final confirmation from MEXT.

Hi guys,

I got it too! I wasn't putting the hopes too high, because I think I didn't did well in the interview. However, now I am really glad I got it :).

For all others who got it, congratz. For those who didn't get it, don't be too sad. Life goes on.

Next would be the LOA. Doesn't have much clue on this one. And due to my current job, I have limited hours to work on it. Any tips and tricks for obtaining the LOAs?

Congrats to all Malaysians who made it yesterday!

For the LOA, keep communicating with the japan uni admins/professors. They should be able to get you rtn by then... best of luck ladies/gent! :)

To those who didnt make it, its a sinking feeling today but its okay... in life, you win some, you lose some...
and life does move on... try other ways.... or try again next year... or well... work and move up in life!

I should know... coz I didnt make it this year too... :)
this is haven11, signing off for year 2011 applications...

Congratulations, fellow Malaysians! =)

Usually, if you have that certificate of preliminary acceptance, there is almost no way that a professor would refuse to take you in. Unless of course, the field of your research is totally different from his/hers. Good luck you guys!

@kellylen: I haven't heard from you for a long time! How have you been?

Hey, blurcheryl. Although they haven't stated it very clearly on the website or something, I'm 99.99% sure from what I know that if you can get a loa from 国立大学 (maybe the top 30), then it's as good as you are accepted in the end.
Anyway, from my embassy in HK, the lady in charge told me that all previous recommended students here have got at least one loa and nobody has yet been rejected at the end. If you can get loa or more than one, pls don't worry too much!
I quit my entrance to a Japanese university starting from this Oct with local funding a litte higher than the MEXT scholarship in order to have this MEXT scholarship and my favorite university in Japan. You see how much risk I'm going to take if the embassy recommendation is like only 90% or so.
