This seller on ebay sells this men's obi for $35, and claims that such obi sells for $75 in Japan. Does this 100% cotton obi sell for this much in Japan? The same obi selling in Yahoo Japan Auction have a starting bidding price of just 950 yen:

a generous profit margin is already built into the reserve bid. That's a cardinal rule of habitual ebay sellers. Of course, if you have no other means to obtain one, the laws of supply and demand suddenly make that price look more reasonable.
