I watched it last night on PBS and it was absolutely chilling. And downright scary.

There have supposedly been over 100 abductions to North Korea.

If I had children in Japan or simply was Japanese living in Japan, I would be very careful and constantly on guard. This story was very shocking and bizarre to say the least.

Thanks for posting this, looks really interesting.

In my mind the abductions are terrorint acts of war, an infinite times worse than shooting down a missle. I think Japan and Korea should invade N. Korea and take out the regime. I know, China would never consent and there's the article 9 problem.

But somebody should lay down the law for these guys rather than appeasing them. Perhaps some nice unidentified robot drones could be sent over by some unnammed country?

The U.S. should too! But Obama thinks that if we are nice to Communist countries and terrorist regimes, they will be nice to us and we can "all just get along".

Umm... gee you and Dogen present such a better alternative of going in and killing millions of people instead and setting off a nuclear war. Your idea is just sooooo much better than trying to get along peacefully. :/

Seriously wth is wrong with you both? Please read up on international relations, war, or talk to a parent who has lost a child. I understand this sort of stuff ignites emotions, and I despise North Korea, but I don't see national genocide as a realistic option.

Now, as for the special itself. I'd REALLY like to see this. It isn't airing anymore on PBS in my area anymore. Any suggestions?

So you support the Japanese agenda of playing the abductee card on the same table as denuclearization talks, within the six party scheme or bilaterally, while completely ignoring their own history with which would involve reparations and an apology for essentially creating the state with a 40 year occupation and subsequent meddling. Especially given it's very unlikely any of the hostages are still alive, in my view...and yet what are you willing to sacrifice for proof of their fate ?

Resolving the facts about Megumi Yokota and the other abductees is important as a last stage process, tying it to bigger questions as a hard and fast condition up front only strengthens Japanese hard liners and isolates allied countries trying to reach an accommodation with the North over its nuclear bases. I say Japan be on their own initiative come April 4th and the test fired missile...

What? Let them grow and develop even deadlier weaponry and even more nukes? Feed them even?
