The events that unfold in the new documentary "Abduction: The Megumi Yokota Story" could have been told as fiction, but they would have seemed too much—too unbelievable, too merciless. We never meet the girl in the title, who is presumed dead. All we have are photographs, the recollections of others, and a recording of her singing a Schumann solo in a school concert.
Megumi was a thirteen-year-old living in Niigata, Japan, when she vanished, on November 15, 1977. For years, her parents heard nothing. There were reports of "something strange" on the northwestern coast of Japan—young couples were going missing—but it took two decades for the truth to come out ................ on and on .................................................................................................................................................................................................... I put this in politics, because this seems to be a well made movie that will make a lot of people very angry in Japan. A movie this good and a true story is bound to stir emontions. Ignoring the terrible tragedy, and awfullness of the poor girl "Megumi Yokota"
I read somewhere that one North Korean abduction, the person abducted (Japanese teenager), was put in a freight containter. Her fignernails mark the sides of the container.
I am sure their have been many documentaries on Japan TV. But a real movie, made well could have an impact beyond anything on TV so far !
