I am trying to figure out the meaning of my japanese middle name, Fumiko. I have found that Mi=beautiful & Ko= child. What is the meaning of "fu" as used in a girls name?
There are any number of kanji used both for "fu" and "fumi." When I have access to my home computer with Japanese fonts I'll try to type up a few of the more popular ones.
OK--one second....there are these three possibiliites for sure : 富 or 冨 (fu--wealthy, bountiful, mt fujisan fu) 美子 ; 文(fumi--letter, note )子 (I'm told this choice may be a bit old-fashioned, but could still be your name . And I'll check on a couple more.
