Meaning of 今もそのままです

Can I have a confirmation of the Meaning of 今もそのままです in this statement.
The context is results of building inspections where equipment is deficient.

約1700の中の約1400の建物は今もそのままです。

Out of approximately 1700 buildings approximately 1400 even now remain in this state.

まま indicates an ongoing state, so as your translation says, そのまま indicates they have stayed in some condition and 今も emphasises that they have remained in that condition until the present time.

You could use "still" for 今も. も can be tricky, it's not always "even/too".

While Nekojita is right that there are occasions where も can be translated differently, it seems to me that in this case you need to make a judgment call. If the original Japanese author likely felt that the 1400 buildings should not be in that state today, or should have been fixed by now, then I'd use "even" ... If he/she likely feels completely neutral about the 1400 buildings being in the state they are in, I'd use "still."

I would use 今でも or 今なお for "even". 今も is "weaker" than these words.
