If it is possible, please kindly help me to translate と particle in the sentences below:
暑くない？ と訊ねるとくまは「暑くないけれど長くアスファルトの道を歩くと少し疲れます。」と答えた。
Maybe, I can interpret it as follows:
と - Has been used to quote protagonist question.
と - Indicates an action (bear reply) occurred when protagonist had asked the question.
と - Indicates a conditional (like "if" or "when").
と - Has been used to quote bear answer.
So maybe it is possible to give following translation:
Isn't it hot ?
When I had asked the bear, "It is not hot, although when I walk on asphalt for a long distance I get little tired" - Bear replied.
But I am not sure if my translation is correct. :?
