Well I finally had all the ingredients turn up on my door earlier this week. Armed with fresh fish form the town I made my first maki sushi today. Tried it out on my parents (Aren't they good) and they liked it. They have never had any in the past. My brother will be jealous because he likes sushi, but wasn't about. Now I'll have to try other recipes from my Japanese cookbook, Harumi's Japanese Cooking by Harumi Kurihara, if you are wondering. My mother really liked it as she realised it was very low in fat.

That's awsome Mycernius!
What kind of fish did you have in it? I'm jelous of you for being able to get fresh fish you can eat raw.

Would you try to make it again?

haha Well done, i remember i made sushi the first time for my parents. My mom, well haha she Love it, but her wife... well she doesn't like fish and the nori.

I like to make it with chicken teriyaki in it!! and of course with salmon and tuna...

when I was in Japan, we went with the parents-in-law to this expensive sushi bar, it was nice, but they had all kind of strange fish on it, and eating like 8-9 things that look wierd and taste a bit wierd ... well a difficult evening, but fun

Sushi Rocks!!!!!

P.S. you got some pictures of it?

Used salmon and tuna. I will definately do it again.

I don't know if the recipe book tells you a sushi recipe, Temari Zushi, or small sushi balls, but it is quite an easy and attractive party sushi recipe.

Awesome! I made sushi for the first time about a month ago, I used shrimp. Since I'm slightly insane I also used scallops. =/ (don't ask! I didn't have anything else around to use)

I had my mother pick up some more nori today. For some reason she keeps referring to it as "sea vegetable".
