M7.0 quake rocks Tokyo

What a start into the New Year!
What a start indeed! 😌
*Some info for the members who are living in places not prone to quakes like Japan. ;-)
Even though the scale of the quake was M7.0, the epicentre was Torihima island, approx. 600km from Tokyo in the sea, therefore seismic intensity scale in Tokyo was shindo 3-4 (depending on the area)

It really lasted for rather long time and felt in wider area both Kanto and Tohoku, long enough to have made me think 'is the the one that we've been feared?!' for a moment. :( 😌
I can imagine how scary it could be for those not accustomed to earthquakes...

Indeed how to start the new year :(

How are your parents feeling now.

Thanks for the info, Undrentide-san!

How are your parents feeling now

Nothing that couldn't be cured with a cup of otoso... ;-)

Did you feel the tremour down in Kobe, Davey?

So, what I am reading here is that this one wasn't too bad, right? Was anybody hurt?

This is really weird but this AM around 11:00 AM or so, I woke up my sons, (12 & 18) and wished them a Happy New Year. My 12 year old gets up and says, Dad I had my first dream of the New Year, (hatsu umei), I ask him what was it? He says, it's weird but I dreamed that there was a shindo 9 kyou earthquake in Chiba. I was like.......ok first dream, things are cool, and laughed it off. He had watched a movie last night that had an earthquake in it, I forget the name, but anyway write it off to "dreams".

A couple of hours later THIS earthquake happens while we are watching the Emperor's Cup soccer match, magnitude 7.0 in Tokyo.

I was scratching my head to say the least. Happy New Year's everyone!

Thank god it wasn't a major quake but come on mother nature give Japan a break. You couldn't even wait 24 hours

We were in Ako, but we didn't feel anything.

I am kind of scared what this year will bring us regarding earthquakes!
