Cool Kara... btw, i used to had a conversations with a maori, and he told me that the Japanese, and the Maori lanquage have a lot in comon, do you know more about that?
Yeah, the vowels are the same, cant remember maori grammar, but its easy for Kiwis who can speak Maori to pronounce Japanese, and visa versa.
I taught basic maori to my japanese friends, they were really good!
There are a few differences, the biggest are ith the "wh" sounds in Maori (pronunced "f"), where Japanese has the "f" somewhere between english "h" and "f". Also where "au" is involved, is is pronunced like "ow" in Japanese and more like "ou" in Maori (e.g. Maori "tekau" - ten; Japanese "chigau" - to be different).
