aaah!! i forgot about that picture they took at the show!!! i'm sure i look like a dork! that's what i get for being a fangirl and putting my hand on kamijo's waist...😌

hahaha i think it's so awesome that most of the people that came out in it were real lareine fans. they must have noticed most of them hanging out together and pretty much swarming kamijo most of the time.

darn, now i wish i had taken a picture for snap cruising. i figured i probably wouldn't come out in it anyway, so i didn't bother. though it would have been cool to see all of us together. either way it's pretty awesome still.

now if only i could get my hands on a copy or two...

News time...

Lareine is releasing a special serial-numbered DVD to the FC by mail order. It will be mailed on August 6th, to commemorate the anniversary of the Akasaka Blitz live in 2000 which was the last live of the first part of Lareine. This DVD will contain "Saikai no Etude," the live document of the Akasaka Blitz concert which was previously screened only at the winter '02~03 Etude "image tour" instore event tour that Kamijo did. IIRC, "Saikai no Etude" was about half an hour long, and contained selected clips from the concert, not whole songs. This new DVD will have some additional rare footage from way back, but does not contain footage with Kazumi.

I don't know how I feel about the release of this... In a way I think it's really good, because that live was meant to be released publicly, and was professionally filmed with excellent equipment. But it's hard to watch... I was at that Akasaka Blitz concert, and I saw "Saikai no Etude" 3 times during the 2003 events. It's heartbreaking. I bawled every time I saw the video, remembering how it felt to see the stage lit with that purple light as they did the last song "fierte no umi to tomo ni kiyu." The closeups are devastating, like Kamijo's expression as he sings "Saikai no Hana" for what he thinks is the last time, singing it not as a promise, but as a lie. And releasing it like this, at this time of year, by FC mail order, with the serial numbers, it's like the "Miss Carmila" box set. I have faith that Lareine is going to find a drummer soon and resume activities, but this makes me feel really sad and lonely somehow... ;_;

I wish they weren't releasing it only to the FC like this. >___<;;; It's not fair to overseas fans, and it puts me in such an awkward position. I don't want to place a group order because it's such a terrible amount of work to organize, keep track of payments, package, and ship the items (I've done it before and it SUCKED); but at the same time I feel so bad that so many fans who would love to see this DVD aren't going to be able to get it. I don't know what to do. >_< (hence why I'm not cross-posting the information to all the MLs and forums yet...)
 
Isn't it weird/disturbing that they want to commemorate that at all? :( I hope I get to see it, even if I sob all the way through it. It's kind of depressing that Kamijo just visited California and his American fans and then the next Lareine release is fan club only. If it were something frivolous I don't think I'd mind too much, but this is a part of Lareine history!

....argh.... It's frustrating being a fan of non-US bands. :mad:

When I made that last statement, I was also thinking of PAL-recorded DVDs that other bands I like just released but I started wondering why they didn't have a fan club and I got to thinking.... I don't know of any bands that have fan club-only releases (or even fan clubs for that matter) outside of Japan. The few fan clubs of American bands I knew of in the 80s/90s didn't offer things like advanced tickets or special purchases. They just sent out a newsletter every now and then. The only person I can think of in the US that has a fan club is Oprah. (LOL!) I don't really have a point, I guess.... I just thought that was strange. ☝

FC only DVD containing a live from Lareine's past? Why hasn't the FC opened up internationally yet? Why isn't the website in English yet either? 😭 I want to be a Fleur. I'd also like to get the DVD. I want to see Kamijo back in the US. What if we all write to Kamijo and tell him his fans in America want to have access to this as well. Didn't he say during Fanime that the FC or website (not sure which one or if both) was suppose to be in English and open to international fans next month (as in this month)?

Kamijo supposedly said the English website would be up next month (which would be this month, June - which is over today!) and that he'd like to have an international fan club, but it would have to be internet only because they couldn't mail things out.

So, even if there were an international Fleur club, we'd still be out of luck with fan club-only merchandise. We just can't win! ^^;

As for AX and the Hyde concert... it was lacking Kamijo. LOL! I got all sad going to another anime convention w/ no Kamijo there to keep me extremely happy. Well... Satsuki and her sisters were there cosplaying as Lareine again. They looked awesome!

The part that sucked was that I missed Mana's panel because my flight arrived later in the day. And I also didn't get to get 12012 autographs since I had to go wait in line for the Hyde concert. The concert was wicked awesome though, so I'm not complaining. I'm not a huge fan of 12012 any way.
 
Traveling is expensive this year because of the fuel charges, but until this past winter I was able to do it relatively cheaply. I got quite a few round-trip plane tickets to NYC for only about $400. Americans usually pay a lot more than they need to for flights to Japan. And if you don't care about staying in a fancy hotel, you can get a room in Tokyo for less than 4,000 yen per night, which is cheaper than a lot of places in the US. Coming here has a reputation for being very expensive because so few people know how to do it, but it really doesn't need to be.

Kaine, the way that smoking age is enforced in Japan is by putting a "Under 20 is not permitted" sign on the vending machine. (LOL) I would imagine that if a kid tries to do something reeeeally stupid like going to the convenience store in her middle school uniform and buying from a human clerk, she'd probably be refused; but otherwise it doesn't matter. ^^

and neither is mana... hes not the most personable fellow. but what was i expecting? he doesnt talk and he doesn't crack a smile. i wanted to rub in the makeup that had gotten stuck in the crease lines of his face. (meeting NO ONE will ever be as fun as meeting dear Kamijo) haha

oh lord, i look like a dork!!! haha in that one pic w/ kamijo from the show, i so couldn't keep my balance cuz i was being pushed, that's how i got my bruises. they didn't disappear until a month after, no joke.

ah! and in that one with kamijo holding up his drawing, you can see my super long hands reaching to grab my camera from bonnie, lol.

kamijo is looking sexy....that man has got his poses down.

haha oh, kaine i think i embarrassed myself enough but yeah we should have made some kind of video, so then he will truly never forget us, lol.

OMG Kaine! If you had Kamijo at your house... I would surround your house w/ an anti-escape system and I'd be there w/ both of you as well. As a matter of fact, you probably wouldn't be able to get rid of me. ^_^; heh heh

On another note, I just read on the Diru thread that there's Diru fanfiction. I had never bothered looking into it before and it made me wonder if there is any Lareine fanfiction. Does anyone know if there's any?

But you went to Fanime, right? I think you might want to reconsider reading the stories... It's reeeeeeally awkward reading fiction about people you've actually met in real life. I think if I hadn't met the bands, I'd probably have enjoyed the stories on this site. My feeling has nothing to do with the authors -- if I try to reimagine the characters as characters, unrelated to the ordinary bandmen, these stories are pretty good fanfiction. But as it is, it's too hard for me to overcome the memory of the real human, and I can't get through the stories.

It's only a week and one day until the FC birthday live! ^o^ Kamijo wrote in the FC diary that he's so impatient to do a live that he's exploding, and so the the set list is going to be a little violent. I'm so glad! We haven't had a really energetic live since the Sapporo shows in mid-February (Kazumi's last and the Tanbi shows were too sad/lonely) and I want to hear Darkness, Kaze no yuuwaku, and Solitude so badly.

haha i think i wrote it somewhere here awhile ago =P but it was before the fanime thing... and there were two doors, and i went through one with pixy and some other people... (weird, how ive never emt them before.. but you guys introduced yourself, but had blurry faces so i didnt know really what you guys looked like) then kamijo was really mean in there... onstage he was really ignorate and kinda like 'goodness -_- crazy fans how annoying..." and then we walked into the next door and there was a kamijo who was an absolute prince =) hahha yup.. then i woek up and got scared of what to expect at the con =P haha but im glad it turned out to be the best weekend of my life =) i met the best friends in the whole entire world there =) pixy, inertia, bonnie and pastel (in order of encounter) =D haha and then kamijo was really a prince =P haha a really jolly funny one too =P
 
awww you guys, it's kamijo's birthday! well....in japan anyways.

sooooo wish i could be there at the live.....sigh
 
I'm about to get ready and leave for the concert soon... It's been so long since Lareine last played that I'm really jittery.

On Friday Kamijo posted in the Fleur diary that they hadn't heard from Mayu in some time (unspecified) and would therefore be using a support guitarist for this live. Also that they'd been planning to do another concert for Mayu's birthday, but that one's just totally suspended. There hasn't been any official news about Mayu since then.

I wonder if the support will be Motoki? (I hope so) I guess that occurred to everyone. They're speculating about that over at 2chan's Lareine thread.

Poor Kamijo. I hope Mayu has shown up, or at least sent an e-mail by now.

What/where is "2chan's Lareine thread?"

I just wonder about how LONG Mayu's been "missing." That third stage mini live was pushed back month by month before a date was set and so many people wondered why he didn't come to Fanime when it's always been the vocalist and lead guitarist... Surely he couldn't have stopped communicating THAT long ago!? :unsure:

However long it's been, I hate that he's taken this so far that Kamijo and Emiru had to give up on him. I don't like to think about it.... :(
 
I've been writing about the live/party but I don't think I should post what I've written as it is. I'll have to go back to it tomorrow and sort it out.

Kamijo raised the possibility of doing solo stuff during one of the MCs. They still don't know what's up with Mayu, and can't do anything with Lareine in the meantime. (The bright side is that apparently they still consider him a valued and important member of the band, even though they've been left in the lurch.) So rather than do nothing while they wait for Mayu and to find a drummer, it seems Kamijo might do some solo stuff. I'm not sure how definite this is. I got the feeling that if Mayu comes back and is ready to start band activities, they'd like to do Lareine stuff; but that if he doesn't show up soon, Kamijo is just going to start working by himself. He seems really impatient to be playing live and putting out new releases.

Some of my friends were very upset to hear this, but I was glad. After everything, I can't believe that Lareine will stop, or that Mayu won't come back eventually... but it could take a long time before Lareine is ready to go, and meanwhile I don't want to do without my Kamijo fix. It sucked in 2001 when there were no releases between "Scream" and New Sodmy's "White Lie," and in the winter of 2002~2003 when there were no concerts between Halloween Party and Saikai no Hana.

pastelflower: They still haven't said how long it's been since Mayu stopped contacting them. I don't think Mayu not going to Fanime is relevant, though. Maybe other bands always send their vocalist and lead guitarist, but their guitarists aren't Mayu... If only Kazumi was still in Lareine, he would have been perfect as a 2nd band representative. Mayu always seems really sweet, but he's so quiet and shy that I don't think he would do well in a foreign country without the entire band for support.

2chan is a giant Japanese BBS on which people post anonymously, with threads about nearly everything imaginable. This is the current Lareine thread.

I'm happy and relieved! Relieved that they still want Lareine to continue with Mayu and relieved that Kamijo won't put everything on hold for him indefinitely.

We don't want to be without our Kamijo fix, either. 😊
