Lareine

You say you don't want to ruin it but challenging the ideas and ways of those in charge doesn't always get the outcome you want. Sometime they eliminate the options all togther. You seem to have forgotten that.

=( raffling would be fun? dunkin would be even funner =D i would like to buy tshirts if they sold em =D the auction thing is still kinda weird for me =( it does kinda eliminate a lot of ppl who dont have that kinda money to bid? man i dunno... i feel bad for bringing the subject of the dinner =(

whoa what the hell is going on? auctions? wait wait, th eonly thing i wanna know is this : are you saying i have an opertunity to wow a jrocker in person for 100 samoles? when. where.

They usually raffle off one slot in the dinner and backstage events. What you might not be considering is if they were to just raffle off something such as this it would be likely that people would enter just to try to win even if they weren't hardcore fans of the band. With auctioning you are only going to get serious fans.

I don't really think money is an issue here. If a band is coming over here at only one location in the states, then people are going to have to shell out a lot of cash for the trip. Being a fan of Jrock is expensive regardless of auctions haha. Imports cost a lot of money. In Japan it's much easier for you to buy merchandise. I know merchandise can be pricey regardless of what country you're in, but you know what I mean. Japan is also very small, so it's easy to travel to all of the band's shows and you get to see them all the time. Twice I've had to travel 600+ miles for a Jrock live. Hotels, food, gas, tickets, merch...it quickly adds up.

You seriously have to set aside a "Jrock fund" and save up money for the next show. Of course 2006 had to be nominated the year of Jrock and there are plenty of future events I am currently saving up for. When you look at the full scale price range, $50 is nothing! Of course I've seen some auctions go for $400+! I would never pay that much! Okay...perhaps if they were auctioning off a Jrocker as a male escort...(what's with the escort service stigma? How do you think I get the money to pay for Jrock in the first place?)! lol

XD

I agree I use my savings acount for nothing else xcept for a jrock rainy day fund. Which probably explaines why its always so empty :D

hahahha wait where is the 50 bucks comin from??? hm.. yea i guess ur rite about the raffle having not so serious fans entering... okay okay okay.. well i have nothing to say about this discussion, im so lost, whatever happens happens and ill just be happy seeing kamijo, thats all i really want anyways

lol, that's the starting price for the auctions, $49.99. If you're lucky that's what you'll win it for, but usually you'll be spending at least $100. The highest I've seen is over $400, but I haven't watched all of the auctions. JHRE is who has the auctions. They auction off backstage events for concerts (you meet the band before their show, get photos with them in costume, have a chance to talk to them, and get a gift from them). They also do dinner events where 5-6 fans go out to eat with the band at a restaurant. They have done bowling events as well.

oOo ic ic... k i thought $50 was just something you came up with to get ur example out... kk...wow hmmm it would be fun to go backstage =)

hide: not raffled off... theres gonna be an auction for the dinner session with kamijo

Wow, you are really slow haha. I don't know how it could be put simpler. I even gave a link to the site where the Kamijo event info is located. Don't worry, I'm just poking fun at you.

I've never done a backstage event, but I know someone who has. Everyone who's ever participated in the auctions has had a good experience, that's why I don't know why there are people who don't approve of the auctions. Don't think of it as putting a price on the band. Think of it as covering their traveling expenses!

hahah okay, thats a good way of thinkin of it =) honestly... hahah stupid of me... but i thought kamijo just took a vacation here and since a convention was going on, wanted to pop his sexy little head in... so as you can tell, i dont know anything about the whole convention and jhre and how it works

lol, it's okay, a lot of fans are oblivious as to how these things are put together. Not only do they have to meet with bands, but they have to be in agreement with the convention as well. Sometimes the conventions won't allow certain bands to perform. Then you have to work around the band's schedule as well. A lot of work goes into putting a tour together, and even just one public appearance! I think cost is the main thing fans forget about, though. How do you suppose a company gets the money to bring bands over here? It's up to us fans to support these bands by buying their merch, and then of course attending the conventions where the bands are appearing helps too. If lots of fans attend and they make a good profit then they'll be able to continue bringing more bands over here. After the concerts they put out surveys for you to fill out, so they know how far their fans are willing to travel just to see them. And where the majority of their fans live, so they can bring the bands to the best location.

oh man... hahah i have a lot to learn from u =P hahaa hopefully this convention ill get the jist of how things work =) its pretty cool tho.. YEA EVERYONE GO SUPPORT LAREINE +D but im sure i dont need to say that =)
man i never thought it was the convention that brought bands here.. thought it was their agent or something?

It isn't the convention, it's JHRE, but I was just stating that JHRE has to do business with whoever runs the convention too. The convention has some say as to what band performs. They can turn bands down. It also depends on the band's management as well. There are some bands that JHRE can't work with, because of the label they are on. It's very complicated!

oh yea yea ... sorry, i was thinkin jhre -_- man im sleepy =P dang so much work put into 3 days... poor kamijo must be exhausted by sunday.. wat if he falls asleep during his dinner?! oh dearest =P hehe i would take him home with me if he did =)

e__e wow ok here's my 2 cents! I think it's a good idea for kamijo having a dinner with his fans I don't think it's bad to auction dinners with bands I mean yea few people already said it but if bands didn't like doing dinners w/ fans then they would'nt agree in the first place right?? but at least you know the money will go back to the band in the end and Lareine ^-^ needs it I'm sure since being indies and kamijo has his Applause label to manage it must be hard .. ok I'm done ..^o^I hope everything turns out okay and many fans go see kamijo to show him how many fans he's got here in U.S!! oh countdown 42 days!!

hahaha oh man... i was afraid the convention or watever gets the money from the auction... that would SUCK MAJOR BUTT -_- WEEE FOR COUNTDOWN!!!

Geez... just spend forever reading the last few pages of posts...

I might be a little late, but here's my 2 cents...
I don't see why an auction is offensive at all, as long as it is agreed by the band. Of course, if they were pressured into it by their company when they weren't happy with it, then I consider it wouldn't be right, but if they are comfortable with it then IMO it's fine. :-)

I can sort of see Inertia's point that she feels it's not ok to pay for somebody's time because it's kinda like turning them into an object or service to be paid for, but I totally disagree... Buying someone's time is completely not like buying their body! ☝ I mean, hell, jobs are paid for by labour charge by the hour; granted you are doing something (work) during that time, but also bands dining with their fans can also be considered to be "doing their job". I'd certainly consider it that way if I was a professional musician; one of the things you do as part of your work to promote your music.

The entertainment industry always has complications like that; because an "act" (whatever that may be) is made of individuals, in some sense they are the product. For example, dance; you are the instrument and the finished work. It can be a weird feeling at times but it's one you have to live with and get used to. It's also not necessarily degrading. Music is a bit different because they songs themselves are "finished product" but also they aren't possible without the artist(s)...

Umm, I've lost my train of thought. Enough. 😌

Oh, and the uchiage sounds like fun and a good idea, too! 👍

hahaha definitely =) but not as lestat... kamijo is his OWN vampire =) lestat wouldnt fit his personality =) kamijo would one hell of a sexy vampire... *sooo HOT* ...i wouldnt eat him!!! i would let him eat me tho 😊

forgive this double post... but i really need to ask a question... intertia, i know you have one of those dolls... i wanted to ask... caz ive seen a bazillion all over the place.. and i have no idea what it is? does anyone know what im tlakin bout? those little plastic dolls with those BIG pretty eyes... and fair skin.. and cool hair? and like... i dunno, but ppl... design them??? mold them? i dunno -_- they look so nice! but i have no idea what they are -_- they cant just be plain dolls you buy in boxes right? like barbie dolls -_- and all u do is dress them?

You're talking about Asian ball-jointed dolls, right? (ABJD for short) They're not so little, though... Mine are about 2 feet tall, but there are smaller sizes available. The most famous company that makes these dolls is Volks, a Japanese hobby company that started the craze with their "Super Dollfies".

(If you access the page with an English-language OS, it might automatically bring up the English version of their site, but if not, there's a link at the very bottom of the index page)

There are many other companies producing this style of doll in Japan and Korea, now. I think the most complete list is at Gigglegeek's site, where you can find pictures of many of the models and links to the companies' sites.

There's also a huge forum for discussing them at

The dolls wear wigs and have removable eyes. Since the big ones are so large, it's much easier to repaint their faces and sew clothes for them than for small Barbie-size dolls. I think that's a large part of the attraction, that they're so easy to customize. I named one of mine "Jeremie" and customized him to resemble You Know Who. (LOL)

More on-topic... Last night I went to Rock May Kan and bought tickets for the 5/4 show that Kamijo is putting together. My ticket numbers aren't bad so yay~. I'd go anyway to see Izabel Varosa, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Tanbi Konoetai will play as well. (In case anybody doesn't know, "Tanbi Konoetai", or "Aesthetics Guard Corps," is the name that Lareine decided to use until they find a new drummer and can be "Lareine" again.) I guess even if they don't play, Kamijo will show up and do some MCs. The date for Lareine's Third Stage acoustic live/talk event appearance still hasn't been announced yet. I'm getting a little worried about that, even though I know it would be impossible for them to hold the event during the days I'll be away for Fanime. ^^;

I actully made a really long (still unfinished) fanfiction and Kamijo is the leading role. I just changed the names, and the story is about vampires hehehe.
I saw his first picture and stared for hours, but someone wrote underneath the following about Kamijo:"This guy looks and sound like a school girl."-so I wondered how does he sounds. I like it hehehe. Yeah, Kamijo is a vampire hehehe:p
