I wonder if the Unification Church is behind this "piece of news." Anyhow, TBS clickbait.

All I can say is that when I got married to a Japanese woman, she was quite disappointed when I decided against buying a house right away. (I wanted to save money to avoid paying interest.) She told me stories of other women she knew whose husbands bought them houses. The marriage did not last long.

Data set of one, yes, but I think many if not most of these marriages that come about from the endeavors in the OP are doomed to fail.

Marriage as a transaction? When I see Japanese women being interviewed on the street about ideal husbands (I know, I know…it's a skewed sample) their desires do appear 'transactional'. They occasionally mention a nice personality, occasionally a nice smile but often a good salary, a good car and solid pension. It might be the same in the UK but I suspect it wouldn't be made as explicit for fears of being called a 'gold digger'

If Korean would-be grooms, simply put down their phones from time-to-time, throw away their cosplay dresses and children's comics, don't follow saccharin-sweet female idol bands but rock () instead, participate in a bit of exercise (preferably a contact sport) to add some musculature to their physiques and are able to make comfortable small talk whilst holding appropriate eye contact, and have a prestigious, well-paid job, they'll do very well with Japanese women.
