konnichi etc

Hi. I've searched everywhere, but I can't find the answer.
konnichiwa - we all know it comes as 'this day' etc. etc. You already know.
I've seen somewhere 'konnichimade' - I take this to mean:
'Until this day'
My question is 'Would 'konnichikara' mean "from today"'? (taking 'kara's' form of 'from') It would be useful in a vow, like 'From today I will stop drinking sake'.
If I am correct in this, please tell me. Thanks.

No point making another thread.
Is gozaimashita used for something already done? And gozaimasu for something that has been done only a little while after. I haven't got a clue on this bit, so if anyone will help...

yes, mashita is past tense. so if they did a single action, mashita. masu would be used if you thanked them for something that they were still doing. like a continuing action. but i honestly cant think of an example where masu would work, but mashita wouldnt... i think mashita is pretty universal.
