'Johatsu: Into Thin Air' documentary

I find this phenomenon fascinating. Finding a source to watch the above-named recent documentary is proving difficult. Has anyone seen this online or outside of Japan? (One of the conditions of its production was that it will not be shown in Japan, ostensibly to protect those who have 'evaporated'.

I see in the imdb release dates info that it was shown in March this year at the Osaka film Festival. So much for trying to protect any desired anonymity in Japan!

Without wishing to appear flippant, we had a comedy series here in the UK in the 70s called 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin' which was exactly about this topic and made in consultation with experts. Although it was made for laughs, it did bring the problem into the public eye and caused much discussion about middle-aged angst. We actually had an MP (John Stonehouse) who copied the exact way Reggie Perrin disappeared himself.

It was followed up a series called 'The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin' in which sort of predicted and ridiculed the advent of the 'influencer'.

I'll look out for this documentary with great interest.

I finally watched it this evening. Well put together documentary, including all the parties who can be involved, the disappeared, the organisers of the disappearance, the families left behind, the agent employed to track the disappeared down. Well edited and it gives a good sense of the back stories of why people choose this option. I imagine my source was from a bootleg DVD since there's been no streaming yet.
