Japan's Tourism Woes Continue For No Reason

Japan is prone to quakes. Japan is prone to tsunamis sometimes, and tyhpoons. There is no excuse in my opinion for not having trained and prepared staff for such an emergency, especially since for the past few decades the chance of a major KANTOU region quake has been mentioned countless times.

What idiot builds a wall to protect cooling systems right next to the ocean, then doesn't have SOME back up plan prepared if the wall happens to break or not be enough? I guess the same idiot who builds the plant right next to the ocean and puts the cooling systems closer.

Ignoring previously released documents showing problems with the wall height and other issues with the Fukushima plant that still doesn't release anyone from having a basic emergency plant.

TEPCO has absolutely no excuse in my opinion.

Pardon my language or anything, but did you say that those b@$t3rd$ built the plant right NEXT to the ocean??? Talk about poor safety.... In my opinion, this whole crisis with the Fukushima plant started when they first went live (the plant), no, when they first planned on building it there. If you ask me I think they shouldv'e built it more inland, probably near or on a rocky mountain, and built a special pipeline to the ocean or something to have cool water for theire cooling systems. Then at least there, the wall wouldv'e been (sortof) a good idea...

Uh, yes! Haven't you see any of the billion news clips on the disaster? Why did you think there was so much hubbub over water spilling into the ocean?

The most important thing to do IMO would be to cut any links between the regulatory bodies and the government, and insure their members are not associated with private companies (TEPCO, etc...). Therefore the government should create truly independent institutions. The regulatory bodies in Japan are currently under direct government control and they have unhealthy relationships with the private institutions they are supposed to regulate.

But I wouldn't guarantee the response would have been less fraudulent, better planned or more competent anywhere. The nuclear business is run by total grubs that thrive on the blatant exploitation of the socially week and unempowered (contract/temp/day laborers/migrant/underage workers...) worldwide. Did you ever see the movie Nuclear Ginza ?

I agree about needing a truly independent body to oversee this stuff. It's clearly corrupt right now...

Haven't heard of that movie but I'll check into it
